  3. I feel like I misunderstood the video somehow. Daigo hasn't stopped competing has he? I feel like not that long ago when I was in the sf6 bubble, he was competing—winning & losing. What's the difference for the people that feel that his legacy has already been set in stone? When he wins, he believes in himself and when he loses, to viewers they say he was washed, or the other player got lucky. So with this match with Mena, I ask again, what's different here? They've played in tournament setting with a lot on the line. So playing a friendly exhibition, now everything is on the line, but for real? I don't get it.

  4. Daigo is an actual real life Anime character lol. He's a weirdo even by Japanese standards but in moments like this you can see that charisma which draws people to him. A warrior and a philosopher 😀

  5. Daigo could just stream get consistent 5k viewers supporting him but just like Fuudo and Tokido that isn't what their focus is on. Daigo could just hit cruise control on his career but no he wants to continue to play and be competitive. He might not win tourneys anymore but he hasn't given up yet and he's still having fun

  6. If Daigo wins everyone celebrates his skill and dedication, Menard is further pushed to continue competing and it’s hardly a “loss” because hey, it’s Daigo, even going toe to toe with him is an accomplishment!
    If Diego loses everyone celebrates his legacy and he joins everyone cheering Menard on, who can stand proud knowing his equal skill and dedication have brought him this far. Daigo continues to inspire the FGC.

    Comparing this to Paul is ridic. Paul took advantage of Tyson’s age in a very different sport! This morning I was watching where the 41 yo player of Hugo was winning against all odds. The only losers in this imo are the people discounting Daigo and this whole match as a given

    People won't like "champion" that only chooses fights that they know that they can win

People who think this is a show off of menard dont know daigo and menard that well, Daigo is already very aware that he is not the best, but you know he knows he can give a show when he wants to, and menard wants exactly that, he has the most respect for the old generation and what he wants is the biggest match of his life, of course it will not be the same as young daigo, and both of them know that, but they still want the best, im not exactly the biggest menard fan, but i know he is not a show off, he wants the challenge, and daigo will give it to him

    Not because he's the greatest, but because these are all still games to him and there is no ego attached to this.
    He's a very Zen player. People who play for fun.

    And in my book, those people enjoy the game a H of a lot more than the people who sweat all day for an imaginary number.
