I'm surprised he didn't mention the spinal column growing in Megumi's domain. I feel like that'll become something important once his domain is fully realised.
My question is: IF simple domain simply functions to neutralize only a barrier to negate the sure hit function of a domain why did the simple domain used by Kokichi effectively negate Mahito's CT and allow him to be harmed?

I think megumi has insane potential because of his shadow technique. Not only does it work as storage for whatever items he deems, but it's a condiut of physical manifestation. Imagine the possibilities if his domain can encompass the world?
Cool theory. But Megumi could only achieve this by actually being able to create a barrier in the first place. A binding vow will make a trade off. If you can't make a barrier, you can't make the trade off for removing the barrier to expand the range of the Domain. And it seems Sukuna's Domain has a time limit(?). Maybe that's how he would be able to use multiple Domains in a day, like Gojo.
What if a binding vow restricted his domain's attacks to the shadows instead of flooding the the area as we've seen? It's a restriction, but it's also refinement and it also fits his possible Gashadokuro roots of a fully formed skeleton hiding behind buildings

Something that might be interesting would be if megumi could create domains from other people's shadows. Right now his domain forms from his shadow so maybe another way for him to by pass the need for a barrier would be to create a domain that forms from other peoples shadow and follows them around as long as they have shadow. Even crazier would be if he could combine multiple shadows to form a bigger domain and stretch the distance.

The moment I read the words, “chimera shadow garden” I thought he’s not gonna have a barrier. Shadows and gardens rely on the sun and a barrier would block him from that. I love this evidence though. Much better than mine lol

Love the video. I always thought Sukuna’s domain didn’t have a sure hit but just his innate CT buffed to an incredible degree. You pretty much explained that. So the question is then how does one defend against Sukuna’s domain? If you can’t leave the area fast enough it seems like game over
Now that i think about it you are right the foreshadowing for Megumi to learn this is too much, if he manages to learn it he would be almost invincible.
I don't think he was helping him there, at least not intentionally, because Sukuna didn't recognize Megumi until the end of that fight, when he almost summoned Mahogara
Awesome theory! I really hope the series continues after this long culling game arc so we can see more personal arcs of Megumi (potentially backstory), where we could see character development that doesn’t seem forced. He has sooo much potential that I can’t wait to be fleshed out.
Maybe megumi’s potential for barrierless domains is a the reason why Sakuna wants him so bad???
What if he could factor in long range teleportation with shadows? He already does it. He can slink into another’s shadow in the room (gambler/Hakari’s into arc). What if he exponentially expands upon it. Some possibilities: Rapidly transporting between shadows in a fight like todo and clapping, transport to a different shadow across the country, increase shadow’s range and make darkness, transport his shikigami through long range shadows, transport people, utilize darkness inside of somebody (in their lungs/stomach) and attack from the inside, etc… what are some other people things he can do?
Sounds cool and wouldn’t be surprised of it but it seems like Sukuna wants megumi for something else other than a domain like his
I think that Megumi not having a barrier could be a benefit. Like Sukuna, if Megumi can expand his domain expansions range, he has an abundance of shikigami copies that can be used on any number of opponents within a wide area.
I actually think that is the point of Megumi not having a barrier. It symbolizes his nearly limitless potential, like Goujo or Sukuna.

The Culling Games could be the catalyst to put Megumi up there with Yuta and Hakari. However, I don't know what could get him to Goujo or Sukuna's level.

I don't remember what ep it was but Megumi was able to put his hand through the wall like a shadow. I hope eventually attack could go through him and have the powers to adapt like mahorama

Wait, it just hit me, Megumi is using his lack of barrier control to form an incomplete domain. Typically seen as a bad habit. If he gets some guidance on it he could develop it into a domain with no barrier like you're suggesting, thus turning his bad habit into a strength of his own. Sound familiar? It should, because it would mirror Yuji and Divergent Fist perfectly. I think you're on to something.
I don't think Binding vows work like that. It's never been explicitly stated but I don't think you can "cheat" your curse technique. If you could theoretically someone like say Nanami would be OP. He lacks the skill to make a Domain Expansion. So in your hypothetical he could just make a binding vow forgoing his DE in exchange for unlimited Cursed Energy or some other hax benefits. But how? He can't give up something he didn't have. If I remember correctly vows work on exchange. Giving something up to recieve something else. So same thing with Megumi. He would have to first master DE with barriers and then make a vow to now use a barrier. But assuming he did, I agree, he would become much more powerful.
If so then the only way to counter it besides another domain expansion is using “Falling blossom emotion”
I really love how the power system works in this series. It feels like it branches away a lot from shonen magic system troupes really well too cause the fact that a lot of sorcerers min max the hell out of it to make it work for them is so nice without it feeling contrived or letting there be weird exceptions that feel like a “my friends need me” or “because plot said” power up.
Like the simplicity of the fundamentals allow for a lot of growth or character storytelling but also give the characters a ceiling so no fucky wucky power creep happens. My favorite has got to be because the laws of cursed energy literally just work (just like the laws of the universe just work&happen) if you exchange an exit for more range, it just goes “oooooh you took that down on purpose” and just treats it like the barrier(in a way) still exists so it can still give you the can’t miss attacks but the domain is massive as hell now with no drawbacks.
Or it could be like some sorta medium for sukuna to use his cursed technique cause he can use it range anyway so expanding the domain just straight up lets him attack anyone now that his range is a whole city
Really hope by the end of the series we get to see more explanations into how it all works

Cursed Energy is a VERY fun power system.
Doesn't the inherent weakness of the chimera shadow garden become more relevant if Megumi became capable of this feat? That is: the restriction that whatever he absorbs in his shadows, he has to carry the weight of. Of he expanded it to such utterly insane lengths, wouldn't opponents then be able to make use of that property to greater extents?
The ability to summon 2 or more Eight-Handled Sword Divergent Sila Divine General Mahoraga would put him in a different calibur
