【放送事故】犯行をカメラにアピールした男…このあと大量殺人

What if the criminal in the case that is causing a sensation in the public eye talks to you with a nonchalant look on his face? On January 20, 2011 in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia In the pouring rain, a reporter on news program, Today, a well-known long-running program,

Was conducting a live broadcast with a serious expression on his face. Reporter: “Police are still in pursuit of the man they believe to be responsible.” The reporter was reporting on an assault that had occurred late the previous night in a residential neighborhood in Windsor, central Melbourne.

The victim was stabbed multiple times in the head and chest with a knife and was unconscious and in critical condition. The perpetrator fled the scene. And during the live broadcast, the reporter encountered an unexpected situation. Suddenly a red sedan stopped behind the reporter.

The driver rolled down his window and yelled something to the camera, shouting something while waving his cap in a silly way. The camera crew sent a gesture that sent the man away with a frown on his face. After a while the man started the car.

At first glance, his behavior appeared to be that of an onlooker who just wanted to be caught on camera. But then the man was telling the camera a very important fact. The man on a red car: “That case, I’m the one who did it.”

The perpetrator showed off his identity to the camera reporting the incident. The perpetrator, despite being on the run, provokes the audience with his antics. Who exactly is the perpetrator? Where the outburst headed, there was a tragedy waiting for him that would take many lives.

Osu! Osu! If I don’t weigh less than 70 kilos by the end of July, I’ll shave my head. Ken chan here. Are you going to do it again? The one where you strip naked when you step on the scale. Ken chan: Yea Yamiko: I’m looking forward to it.

Better than flowers, Yami Yamiko here. Today I would like to introduce you to a violent incident that happened in Melbourne, Australia. In this case, to our surprise, the perpetrator, who was on the run, appeared at the scene of the news coverage of the incident. What was his purpose?

There’s a chance the police will just catch him and that’ll be the end of it, right? What the hell was he doing that for? It’s unprecedented. A few hours after this live broadcast, the perpetrator took further action that caused a public uproar.

This one was reported in Japan at the time, so maybe some of you know it. The perpetrator who appeared at the scene of the live broadcast with a nonchalant look on his face. Why did he act so outlandishly? I’m the one who did it. On January 20, 2017 in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

The early morning TV was filled with news of an assault that had occurred just a few hours earlier. The staff of the long-running program Today rushed to the scene in the pouring rain and was reporting live on the investigation. Reporter: “Police are still in pursuit of the man they believe to be responsible.”

In the midst of such a tense news report, a red sedan stopped behind the reporter. The driver rolled down his window, shook his cap, and yelled A man with a cap: “I’m the one the police are looking for right now.” His voice was drowned out by the surrounding noise

And never reached the ears of the staff. Camera crew: “Hey, you, onlooker. That’s annoying.” The camera crew put a finger to his lips and gestured to the man to be quiet. The man then immediately started the car and disappeared from the camera.

This man, whom no one was willing to take up with in that way, was the real perpetrator in this case. The police were pursuing his whereabouts seriously. Police: “We’ll get him no matter what.” Police: “If we don’t arrest that guy soon, he might kill people.”

This man, who appeared before the cameras on national television despite being on the run, was a ticking time bomb that could explode at any moment. Who the heck is he? In 2002, 15 years before the incident took place. in the rural South Australian town of Cooperpedy,

A young boy was taken to the police station Police: “Why did you do that?” The name of the boy so questioned by the police was James Gargasoulas. He was bullied by his classmates for many years because of his intellectual disability. And at this time, James had a case for revenge.

The incident, which occurred when he was only 14 years old, was an attempted bombing of the school he attended. This boy was the perpetrator who later tried to get on TV, wasn’t he? I can’t believe that at the age of 14 he would attempt to blow up a bomb. Big deal, right?

Yea, so dangerous. This James was a man who had a problem with his behavior since he was young. After that, his behavior deteriorated and James became an illegal drug dealer after the age of 20.。 His self-promotion, such as showing off his own crimes on television, had been showing glimpses of this since then.

James: “Hahahahaha. Feeling great.” Uploaded to YouTube was a video of James high on illegal drugs. While many criminals use drugs in hiding, James was openly public about what he was doing. Including driving without a license, violent behavior, assaulting police, and fleeing custody,

James was also repeatedly arrested by the police for all manner of crimes. Over the course of his life, his criminal record had grown to the point where he was having trouble reading it. This is definitely a guy whom they need to keep an eye on, isn’t he?

I have only a bad feeling about this. Yea, I agree. James then went on to commit the incident that was reported live, which I mentioned in the first place. And it is said that this crime could have actually been prevented. Many of James’ assaults were against his relatives.

He suspected his girlfriend of cheating on him and beat her until her face was battered and bruised and he beat his brother Angelo with a gun after an argument, As he dodged pursuit by driving recklessly, including driving the wrong way on the road, whenever he was involved in a police action,

James was not easily arrested. And on January 14, 2017, such a man, James was finally arrested as well. James: “Leave me alone!” Police: “Be quiet. I’m taking you to the station.” James broke into his mother’s apartment and was seized when he was brandishing a knife.

The police charged him with 23 counts at this time. But to our surprise, James was released on bail after only a few days. In fact, this was an unwanted situation for the police. At that time in Victoria, volunteers without legal qualifications could also serve as bail magistrates.

And it was an unqualified volunteer who handled James’ bail on this day. It was surprising that the judge was not told that James had numerous criminal records or that he was mentally unstable due to drugs. Do people ever make mistakes like this? I don’t even know if it’s a mistake.

Why didn’t they tell the judge something so important about a man who has 23 charges as well? I can not understand. Well, some say that the police, you know, refused to release him on bail. So there may have been some kind of misunderstanding. Sure enough, this bailout was a big mistake.

After making bail, James assaulted his mother’s boyfriend, forcibly took his car keys from him, and fled. He dodged police pursuit and headed back to his mother’s apartment. The next thing he knew, his younger brother Angelo, who had just been beaten and injured by James, was there.

When James saw his brother, he started talking about this. James: “You know about the comet that’s about to hit Earth?” James: “Where is the underground shelter?” James: “Why don’t they tell us? We’re all gonna die.” James was high on illegal drugs and repeated his delusional stories.

Angelo was no longer able to stand his brother’s lack of any pretense of offense. Angelo: “Just do us all a favor and stay out of our lives.” Angelo said as if to spit it out and ran out of the apartment. And James immediately followed right after him. He then

Lunged at his brother with a knife. James: “Why don’t you get it after all I’ve taught you?” Even in the face of his brother, who was bleeding and collapsed, James continued to make unintelligible claims. He grabbed Angelo by the hair and slashed his face repeatedly.

Angelo was then taken to the hospital in a coma. By the time the police arrived, James was already gone at the scene. Eh? I don’t understand anything he’s saying or doing. Is all this because of those illegal drugs? That’s right. It is what happens when people get into illegal drugs.

So this leads to today’s keyword, Drug Addiction. Many illegal drugs have the property of stimulating the pleasure center of the reward system in the brain. This pleasure center originally brings pleasure when the result of some effort is achieved.

Illegal drugs are very dangerous because they provide pleasure that skips over the process of effort. Once that pleasure is achieved without any effort, people will turn to illegal drugs again and again. Furthermore, after repeated ingestion, a tolerance develops and the pleasure becomes less pleasant, so the amount ingested increases each time.

As the intake becomes excessive, hallucinations, auditory hallucinations, delusions, and other symptoms appear. It is not uncommon for this to lead to violent crimes such as assault and murder. Thus, the morning after the assault, knowing that he was wanted by the police, James appeared before the TV cameras. That behavior, which was inexplicable,

Was a prelude to the further tragedy he would unleash from here. James sent his brother to the hospital and continued to flee. His violent behavior became unstoppable. The beginning of the tragedy Around 11:30 a.m. that day when James appeared at the live broadcast site, the police interviewed a woman.

Police: “So did James say anything about what he would do after this?” The woman whom the police questioned was James’ girlfriend. She had been with James just prior to this. When she tried to stop James that day, she said, she was abducted without further ado.

The police found the car they were in and gave chase, but when James realized this, he pushed her out of the car and swerved past the police at full speed. And after this, James’ girlfriend’s words to the police changed things once again.

Do you, all followers, remember the following words that the police said in the opening scene of this video? Police: “If we don’t arrest that guy soon, people will die.” It was this next statement by his girlfriend that made the police think James was so dangerous.

James’s GF: “If nothing is done about it, we will be in big trouble.” James’s GF: ” James was saying that if the police catch up with him, he will hit and kill 180 people. It’s going to be dangerous! Somehow they must get to him soon. You’re right.

The police had to make a very difficult decision from this point on. Investigator: “Do whatever you have to do to get that guy.” Investigator: !By body slamming, whatever.” With civilians in danger, investigators on the scene were prepared to do so. The police command headquarters, however, thought differently.

Command headquarters: “No unreasonable pursuit or interference with James Gargasoulas is prohibited. Continue your covert investigation from a safe distance.” Investigator: “Why? He says he’s going to hit and kill people all over town.” Claims of the field and headquarters at odds with each other amidst the impending situation

After all, orders from the command headquarters were absolute. The investigators had no choice but to continue to follow James from a distance so as not to provoke him. However, under the circumstances, one of the investigators attempted to negotiate directly with James.

That person was Lieutenant Murray Gentner, who had been in charge of James’ interrogation just a few days earlier. Lieutenant Gentner sent the following message to James’ phone. Lieutenant Gentner: “James, call me now. We don’t have time.” And although James replied back to him,

James: “I have two choices, die in prison or die trying to escape from the police.” James: “I speak of the future, I have knowledge.” Every the message from him were not to the point. In the meantime, he finally stopped responding. Lieutenant Gentner: “Stop doing like this.” Lieutenant Gentner: “You should meet me.”

Lieutenant Jentner patiently continued to send messages to James, who stopped responding. It was then. Investigator: “Oh my God, his car is heading towards the intersection in front of the station.” One of the investigators who had been pursuing James exclaimed in a panic. James moving toward a busy intersection.

Yes, the clock was ticking on the tragedy. January 20, 2017, 1:30 p.m. A red sedan appeared at the intersection in front of Flinders Street railway station in the heart of Melbourne. The red car swung around and behaved strangely to anyone’s eyes. People who were shopping looked at the car with fright.

People: “What’s that? So scary.” The investigators who rushed to the scene raised their voices and ran to deal with the situation respectively. Investigator: “Stop him at all costs! Block the sidewalk!” But it was too late. The red car suddenly swerved onto the sidewalk and plowed into the crowd.

Without any pretense of concern for the fleeing people, the car continued to push forward down the sidewalk at breakneck speed. Investigator: “A pedestrian was hit.” James: “I hit and kill people all over town.” That moment when James said those words came true.

In the end, James suffered 33 victims in the outburst, six of whom were killed. There was a 3-month-old infant among the victims. There was also a Japanese student studying there, and the incident was covered extensively in Japan. Police then subdued James with an ejection stun gun.

It must be said that the situation was brought under control too late. I was shocked when this news was broadcast in Japan, but I had no idea this was happening there. but I had no idea this was happening there behind the incident.

The fact that the perpetrator has no sense of guilt at all, and that no matter how much anger you vent at him, it doesn’t resonate with him, is what makes it all the more frustrating. In November, 2018 James, who was convicted of six counts of murder and 27 counts of assault, was

Sentenced to life in prison without parole for a minimum of 46 years. Meanwhile, the public also criticized the police response to the incident. His brother Angelo, who was in a coma after being stabbed by James, somehow recovered and told the following,

If the police had caught my brother earlier, many lives could have been saved. I’m wondering why they didn’t. In response, the investigator who was tracking James at the scene mentioned the following Investigator: “The police allowed James to move to the center of town.”

Investigator: “I think the problem was the slowness of the organization’s policies and decisions.” Investigator: “We must carry our mistakes in this case from now on.” James: “If the police catch up with me, I’ll hit and kill everyone in town.” After these words from James, the police could not carelessly approach his car.

But it was completely up to James to decide at what point he would start to go off the rails. Perhaps the best way to minimize the damage would have been to move to take him into custody as soon as possible once it was clear that he was harboring dangerous ideas.
