It is a wonderful story, it shows a very beautiful, warm-hearted Japan. It had touched my heart, I´ve been several times in Tokio; it became even after a love story!
Wow I've been looking for this movie since forever! Sadly I can't continue watching because it can't fit my screen and I feel that some parts to the subtitles are missing. Is there anyway you could post a better version please?

These type of films aren't usually my cup of tea. But something about Shall We Dance? just warms my heart and is a very rewatchable film.
It has one of my favourite actors in Koji Yakusho in the lead role, who's great in this. And great cast supporting him. Especially Naoto Takenaka as Aoki, Shohei's co worker who also happens to love dance and Eriko Watanabe as Toyoko. Those two bring the big laughs and biggest standout performances. Also special praise for Hideko Hara as Masako, Shohei's wife. She's probably the heart of the film. The scene when Shohei and Masako dance near the end is definitely the teary eyed moment of the film. Tamiyo Kuaskari as Mai, a real life dancer and her first acting role for this film is great too. She went on to marry the director of the film after.
You can see why this film got a remake with Richard Gere and Jennifer Lopez. At 2hrs 16mins it goes by without you feeling the running time.

I truly hope many people are to watch this movie now this has an English subtitle.

Great film! Haven't seen it since college when our Japanese teacher showed it for us. Fun for us. Still holds up :3

こういうジャンルが日本の映画の良いところだと思う。何気ない日常の中のストーリーっていうか。「おくりびと」とともに派手はさないけど、見た後に心が少し暖まる。そんな感じ。「深夜食堂」にも同じものを感じるな〜。
ダンス愛にあふれた愛すべき映画ですよね。大好きです。
邦画枠にとどまらず、ちゃんと「映画」として成立しているのが素晴らしいですよね。ビリー・ワイルダー監督が生前に絶賛していた、という理由もわかります。
映画後半、舞さん役の草刈民代さんが誰もいないダンス教室内でひとり軽く踊っているシーンがありますが、流石だと思いました。
高度まで極めたバレエダンサーでないとあんな伸び伸びと動けません。たった数十秒のシーンですが、本当に美しい。
BGMの「ラストダンスを私に」が、周防正和さんアレンジから映画後半〜エンドクレジットになるとちゃんと原曲の方に変わっていたりして、実に芸が細かいなと思います。
I love this film. Also it’s so strange to see Blackpool in a foreign film. I hope fans of this never visit! 😂
(I’m kidding Blackpool is a very interesting place but it is a very poor town. The ballroom is so beautiful and the tower too.)
