Koichi first started performing for Shock in 2000 as the male lead, but without any script, this musical show was produced by Johnny Kitagawa, who was the founder of Johnny & Associates.
Koichi had performed Shock for the first 4 years, without much storyline / script, till 2005 he decided to talk to Johnny san to have full control on the musical show, in which Johnny san agreed.
So from 2005 onwards, Shock was revamped to Endless Shock with proper storyline, with Koichi directing the whole crew. He recruited his juniors in the musical show too. To date, storyline for Endless Shock has been improvised every year….adding more details for audience to enjoy, resulting a huge success to the musical show. Every year tickets for the musical show are in high demand. People all over the world will fly to Japan to watch the musical. You can search for video documentary for Shock/Endless Shock, where it showed the effort Koichi put in all these years for the musical show. Several songs in the musical show were composed by Koichi too, such as Yoru no umi, Continue, Why don't you dance with me? etc
Koichi is very much involved in the production for the musical show and KinKi Kids concerts. He is involved in the stage aesthetics such as layout and lightings etc, whereas Tsuyoshi is involved in the music arrangement part for their concerts.
PS. Koichi named Johnny san as the eternal producer in 2020 to commemorate Johnny san as he passed away in 2019. KinKi Kids were close to Johnny san as he was their mentor, grandfather.
It was quite a hard blow for Koichi, as he took longer time to get over it. Tsuyoshi on the hand, wrote a song for Johnny san, which Koichi suggested to release that song in their single. It was quite a funny song though, title is Kanzai Boya… this was KinKi Kids' former group name, which lasted merely for four months.

Koichi starred as the main role of the musical "MILLENIUM SHOCK" and since then he performed it every year. The show is renamed as "Endless SHOCK" in 2005 when Koichi rewrote the story and started to direct the show by himself. Endless SHOCK is nowadays called "the stage of which tickets are the hardest to get in Japan". Koichi received the Grand Prize of Kikuta Kazuo Drama Awards (a famous prize attributed to artists who has shown outstanding achievements in popular theatre), for leading the SHOCK series for 20 years.
KinKi Kids is actually a duo composed by the Japanese funkmaster and the Japanese musical star ! They are so genius and this is exactly why I love them both so much♥️♥️♥️
