実写版『モアナと伝説の海』のモアナ役キャサリン・ランガイア、そしてマウイ役ドウェイン・ジョンソンの来日が決定！ - SCREEN ONLINE（スクリーンオンライン）

2016年のディズニー・アニメーション映画『モアナと伝説の海』が実写映画化。本作の主演を務める新星キャサリン・ランガイア（モアナ役）とドウェイン・ジョンソン（マウイ役）が揃って来日することが決定した。この発表に合わせて特別映像も公開された。

『モアナと伝説の海』は、どんなに悩んだり迷ったりしても、心の声を信じて前へと進む＜海に選ばれた＞16歳の少女モアナが、変幻自在に姿を変える半神半人のマウイとともに、愛する家族と島を救う冒険を描く物語。モアナ役には、3万2千人以上の応募の中から“発掘”された奇跡の歌声を持つ新人キャサリン・ランガイアが配され、マウイ役を、アニメーション版から同役を務め、本作ではプロデューサーも兼任する世界的トップスター“ロック様”ことドウェイン・ジョンソンが演じる。

本作に込めた想いを日本のファンたちに直接伝えるべく、イベント登壇やメディア取材が予定されている。先日実施されたワールドプレミアで、キャサリンは日本のファンに向けて、「皆さんがついにこの映画を観られることを、とても嬉しく思っています！そして、私自身も日本へ行って、皆さんと一緒にこの素晴らしい作品をお祝いできることを本当に楽しみにしています。ぜひ楽しんでください！素敵な時間を過ごしてくださいね」とメッセージを贈っている。

なお、ランガイアは今回が初来日となり、ジョンソンは映画プロモーションでは2014年公開映画『ヘラクレス』以来、約12年ぶりの来日となる。

今回解禁された特別映像では、ジョンソンやトーマス・ケイル監督らが、ランガイアとの運命的な出会いを明かしている。

＜超＞実写版『モアナと伝説の海』の製作が決まってすぐに、世界規模で行われたモアナ役のオーディション。キャサリンと出会ってすぐに“彼女しかいない”と直感した監督は、ドウェインに“モアナを見つけた！”と喜びの電話をしたという。

そんなランガイアは、撮影中にも製作陣を圧倒し続けていた模様。アニメーション版に続き、本作でも音楽を担当したリン＝マニュエル・ミランダが「才能に圧倒された」と語れば、トーマス・ケイル監督も「彼女の歌唱と不屈のオーラ」に魅了されたとコメントし、「勇敢さと好奇心を感じたよ」と大絶賛。さらに、アニメーション版でモアナを演じたアウリイ・クラヴァーリョまでもが「私たちが大好きなモアナそのもの」と太鼓判を押している。
