On June 3, actor Shuji Kashiwabara (47) revealed that he was rushed to the hospital the previous night and underwent emergency surgery.

In a post on X, Kashiwabara explained that he experienced rectal bleeding at home and was transported by ambulance. He was later diagnosed with diverticular bleeding in the colon and suffered significant blood loss.

According to Kashiwabara, the emergency procedure was successful and his condition has since stabilized. He added that he is expected to remain hospitalized for about a week while recovering.

In a separate statement detailing the incident, Kashiwabara said he had undergone a colonoscopy in April that showed no abnormalities, but began experiencing bleeding on May 31. While attending a recording session for singer Natsu Amano, he experienced another episode of bleeding and was rushed to the hospital.

Kashiwabara said doctors told him his condition had been critical, requiring approximately 3,600cc of blood transfusions. He concluded by thanking the emergency responders, doctors, nurses, and those who assisted him, saying he would focus on rest and recovery during his hospital stay.
