巨匠ガス・ヴァン・サント監督が実話を映画化したクライム・スリラー『デッドマンズ・ワイヤー』が7月17日（金）に公開することが決定した。併せて、異常な人質立てこもり事件の緊迫感が伝わるスチールが解禁された。

人質と自分の首をワイヤーとショットガンで固定し63時間も籠城不動産投資会社に財産を騙し取られたとして、同社に押し入り役員を人質にとった男は、自分の首と人質の首をショットガンとワイヤーで固定、ヘタに動けば自動発砲される“デッドマンズ・ワイヤー”という装置を使って警察すら近づけない状況で籠城する。謝罪や補償を訴える男が現場からのメディア出演など異常な行動に出始めると、世間は犯人に同情を抱くようになっていく。警察が突入に備える中、ついに犯人と社長が電話で話すことになるのだが―。
この実話に基づく事件のメガホンを取ったのは、アカデミー賞に輝く『グッド・ウィル・ハンティング/旅立ち』（97）や『ミルク』（03）、そして『エレファント』（03）でカンヌ国際映画祭パルム・ドールと監督賞を受賞した巨匠ガス・ヴァン・サント。
主役となる実在した犯人トニー・キリシスを演じるのは「IT」 シリーズのビル・スカルスガルド。人質となるディックはNetflix「ストレンジャー・シングス」シリーズのデイカー・モンゴメリー。事件を担当するグレイブル刑事に『ミッション：インポッシブル／デッド・レコニング PART ONE』のケイリー・エルウィス。事件を追う地元TV局レポーター・リンダ役に『ゼイ・ウィル・キル・ユー』の公開が控えるマイハラ。事件に巻き込まれる人気ラジオ番組のDJフレッド・テンプル役に『シンシン／SING SING』のアカデミー賞受賞俳優のコールマン・ドミンゴ。そして、不動産投資会社社長のM・L・ホール役に名優アル・パチーノと、豪華なキャストが集結！

“デッドマンズ・ワイヤー”
ソードオフ（先端をのこぎりでカット）したショットガンの先に、人質の首に括り付ける用のワイヤーを取り付ける。そして、引き金と自分の首を括り付ける用のワイヤーを取り付ける。人質が離れようとしたり、犯人に危害が加えられると、自動で引き金が引かれ発砲される仕組みになっている。
トニー・キリシス（ビル・スカルスガルド）
不動産投資会社メリディアン・モーゲージ社に財産を騙し取られたと思い、同社の役員を人質に取り立てこもる男。“デッドマンズ・ワイヤー”という仕掛けを独自に開発する。労働者階級で性格はかなり荒い。人生の全てをかけた事件を引き起こすのだが、大事な部分でトロいドジを何度も踏んでしまうユニークなキャラクター。
リチャード・ホール【通称ディック】（デイカー・モンゴメリー）
メリディアン・モーゲージ社役員で、社長の息子。社長不在時に会社を訪ねてきたトニーの人質となる、運の悪い男。
マイケル・グレイブル刑事（ケイリー・エルウィス）
地元インディアナポリス警察の刑事。現場に急行しトニーの説得に当たる。トニーとは面識がある。
フレッド・テンプル（コールマン・ドミンゴ）
地元ラジオ局で朝のワイド番組を担当する人気DJ。ファンであるトニーの指名で、電話出演の聞き手をさせられ事件現場にも呼ばれてしまう。
リンダ（マイハラ）
地元TV局のレポーター。日々特ダネを追い求める中、偶然にも事件現場に居合わせる。
