古典名作から、いま若い世代に見てほしい映画など様々な上映作品
古典名作から、いま若い世代に見てほしい映画など様々な上映作品「NFAJコレクション」は、国立映画アーカイブの所蔵コレクションから多彩な映画の面白さを詰め合わせて紹介する上映企画。今回は「いま観たい！アメリカン・シネマ」と題し、若い世代にいまこそ観てほしいアメリカ映画の小特集をお送りする。
7階展示室にて開催中の「写真展 ハリウッドの名監督たち 映画芸術科学アカデミーのコレクションより」でも紹介しているアルフレッド・ヒッチコック、ヴィンセント・ミネリら巨匠監督による古典的名作、米国の精神史を考察するうえで重要な位置を占める作品、映画史の発展や映画製作の内幕を描いた作品などバラエティに富んだ9作品（9プログラム）を上映する。

▼いまこそ古典的名作を観直そう
7階展示室にて開催中の「写真展 ハリウッドの名監督たち 映画芸術科学アカデミーのコレクションより」でも紹介しているアルフレッド・ヒッチコック監督の『レベッカ』（1940）、ヴィンセント・ミネリ監督の『バンド・ワゴン』（1953）は、いずれも映画史上に燦然と輝く名作であり、ハリウッドの制作体制に支えられた圧倒的な完成度はいまなお色褪せることがない。
また、ピーター・ボグダノヴィッチ監督の『ニッケルオデオン』（1976）は、黎明期のハリウッドを描いた作品であり、3月６日（金）の回では、まさに1910年代の撮影所の様子を捉えた貴重なフィルムも上映。さらに、『レベッカ』の３月22日（日）の回は斉藤綾子氏（明治学院大学文学部芸術学科教授）、『バンド・ワゴン』の３月14日（土）の回は長谷正人氏（早稲田大学文学学術院教授）による講演を上映後におこなう。

▼子どもたちにいま観てほしい映画たち
1950年代の漫画連載開始以降、世界中で愛され続ける「ピーナッツ」の長篇アニメーション映画『スヌーピーとチャーリー』（1969）を1976年に日本でリバイバル公開された際の吹替版で上映する。『ゆかいな風船旅行』（1977）は、名優キャサリン・ヘプバーンが演じる女性と2人の子どもたちが気球に乗って冒険に繰り出すハートウォーミングな一作で、迫力あるクライマックスにも注目。また、巨匠シドニー・ルメット監督の『旅立ちの時』（1988）は、早逝したリヴァー・フェニックスの繊細な演技が心に残る思春期映画の傑作で、本年度のアカデミー賞でも主要部門の受賞が有力視されているポール・トーマス・アンダーソン監督の話題作『ワン・バトル・アフター・アナザー』（2025）にも影響を与えた作品。

▼カルトムービーをいま観直すと…
スティーヴン・キング原作の『キャリー』（1976）は、ヒッチコックに多大な影響を受けた鬼才ブライアン・デ・パルマ監督の華麗な映像演出が炸裂したホラー映画の名作にして、悲劇的な青春映画としても忘れがたい作品。マイケル・アンダーソン監督の『オルカ』（1977）は、動物をモンスターではなく知性のある生物として描いた異色の動物パニック映画。狂気的な映画製作の内幕を描いたリチャード・ラッシュ監督の『スタントマン』（1980）は、奇妙な寓話性をたたえた怪作として高く評価されている作品。
