予告編は間違いなく成功している。
予告編を見て、観ようと思ったわけで。

予備知識なしで、
観賞後、パンフレットを見て
つげ義春原作の作品と知る。

妙に納得。

まだ原作漫画には当たっていないけど
つげ義春の独特な間は、
実写化に当たっては工夫しないとキツイよなあ
というのが個人的な印象。

それをなんとかしようと、
工夫するんだろうが
私は今回、鑑賞中に、
独特な長い間に
何度か睡魔と戦わなければならなかった。

あくまで印象だけれど、
製作時に
後半に向かって、
リアルな時間が無くなって、
独特な間をどうにかする
工夫を考える余裕がなくなったのでは?
と感じてしまった。

出ている俳優陣は
好きな人ばかりなので、
ちょっと残念に感じました。

つげ義春の原作の
素材選びかなあ。

同じ、つげ義春の原作の
「雨の中の慾情」は
面白かったんですけどね。

三宅監督の
「ケイコ 目を澄ませて」
は良かったので、
少し肩透かしでした。

The trailer was undeniably successful.
It was the trailer that made me want to see the film in the first place.

I went in with no prior knowledge, and after watching the movie,
I checked the pamphlet and found out it was based on a work by Yoshiharu Tsuge.

It made perfect sense.

I haven’t read the original manga yet, but Tsuge’s uniquely lingering pacing
must be quite difficult to handle in a live-action adaptation—
that was my personal impression.

The filmmakers must have tried various ways to capture that pacing,
but during my viewing,
I found myself fighting sleep several times
because of those unusually long, drawn-out pauses.

This is only my impression, but
as the film moved into its second half,
it felt as though they ran out of actual production time
and no longer had the bandwidth to figure out
how to handle Tsuge’s distinctive pauses.

The cast consists entirely of actors I like,
so I felt a bit disappointed.

Perhaps it comes down to the choice of source material
among Tsuge’s works.

By contrast, another Tsuge adaptation,
“Lust in the Rain,”
was quite interesting.

And since Miyake’s film
“Small, Slow but Steady”
was excellent,
this one left me feeling a bit let down.
