Today on Jesse Duplanis Ministries, he came, he died, he resurrected, and he’s coming back. That’s a historical fact. That’s a magnificent obsession. [Music] The book of First John, chapter 1, verse one. I’m reading out of the King James. This is John talking about Jesus. That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, that’s fascin. That’s why there was so much like the word of life. Verse two, for the life was manifested and we have seen it and bear witness. Now, this is an old man that just got off the aisle of Patmas and he’s still excited about God because he’s got a magnificent obsession of God and showing to you that eternal life. Now, he takes it further. is not only does he have life, eternal life which was with the father and was manifested unto us. This eternal life, verse three, that which we have seen and heard, declare we unto you. Now he pulls you into his magnificent obsession. Watch it. That you also may have fellowship. One word says partnership with us. And truly our fellowship of partnership is with the father and with his son Jesus Christ. And these things write ye unto you that your joy may be full. Now this is a man they wanted to kill him. They did everything they could to destroy. They boiled him in oil. That’s 400 degrees. And he was hotter than the oil. Wow. He was hotter than the oil. They couldn’t kill him. They doing everything they could. And what kept him like that? What kept his body? What kept him? That magnificent obsession. When you saw John, you saw Jesus. What is in your eyes? And what’s behind your eyes? When people see you, do they say the do they see the Christian religion symbol or they see Jesus Christ, the hope of glory? Yes. Who lord? Do they see a person on a cross? Or do they see the king of kings, the rose of shared, the lily of the valley, the bright morning star? Are you hearing what I’m saying? What are people see? Are you obsessed and possessed with this magnificent obsession called Christ? Write this down if you take notes. When speaking about God, your words must have in them magnificent conviction. When speaking about God, your words must have in them magnificent conviction. See, I have a magnificent conviction about God. When I speak his word, I believe what he says. And listen to this. I believe what I say because what I say, he says. And God says in another scripture, “Be you therefore imitators of God as dear children.” So I imitate him. Why? Because and and people say, “When’s the last time you saw me discouraged, depressed, despondent?” Why? I ain’t got time for that. Why? I got Christ in me, the hope of glory. That doesn’t mean things don’t go wrong in my life. Thing go wrong in my life. Somebody’s always attacking me about something here and all that kind of stuff. But you know what? I’m so obsessed with God, so possessed by the Holy Spirit. It doesn’t make any difference what people say. Because you know, I Oh, I’m going shock you with this. I know I’m good. I’m not talking about Jesse the man. I’m talking about Jesse that that Christ lives inside of him. God don’t put himself in bad stuff. So when speaking about God, your words must have in them magnificent conviction. Now write this down. There is nothing infectious about secondhand faith. It’s firstand faith or nothing. That’s what he’s saying here. I handled him. I touched him. And now I’m giving you that life and that eternal. I want you to be like me. You see that’s firsthand faith. That’s firsthand believing. There’s no nothing infectious about secondhand faith. We try. That’s why, and I’m not trying to be critical, but I’m just being truth. That’s why I don’t believe in percentages of healing and percentages of my Lord. That’s secondhand infection. My God, I want it all. Jesus said, “All things are possible to them that believe it. And if you believe it, you’ll get it all.” He said, “If you say to that mountain, be thou removed.” He said, “Climb the thing.” He said, “If you say to that mountain, be thou removed, and then tell him where to go, be cast into the sea.” My Lord, guess what? Then you can see clearly. See, I don’t believe in secondhand faith. It’s it’s not infectious. Firstand faith is infectious. My spiritual son say every time they all call me dad. Every time we get around your bed when we leave, we feel we can walk on the water. You you actually believe you can do everything. Yes. Why? I’m possessed. With a Holy Spirit with a magnificent I have a magnificent conviction of his word. I have a magnificent conviction of who he is and I refuse to walk in secondhand faith because it’s not infectious. It’s firsthand faith or nothing. Write this down. You must produce God visibly and dramatically with light in your eyes and serenity of spirit. Let me say it again. You must produce God visibly and dramatically with light in your eyes and serenity of spirit. I have people say, “Brother Jeff, there’s just something about you. It’s Christ in me, the hope of glory. You see, it’s in my eyes. It’s in my hands. You see, it’s there. You do you understand? And it’s a serenity of spirit. I take God with me everywhere I go. Anything I do, when I’m tired, I say, “I’m li Lord. I’m tired.” He says, “Pull on that strength that’s within you.” And I say, “Flesh, grab it.” Sometime I just pray in tongues, watching myself pray. That’s weird, isn’t it? I just stand in front of a mirror. Oh, glory to God. Hallelujah. I preached to myself. I’ve had great revivals with myself. My God. I’ve given an offering to myself and received an offering to myself. I’ve given an altar call and answered it. just well I mean I’m telling you Terry I do those things it’s magnificent when God told me to build this place what did everybody say everybody I’m not like you can’t do that you’re not possessed you’re not you know God’s not your magnificent obsession I made up my mind I’ll build this place that doesn’t mean trouble don’t come we get trouble all the I just don’t pay that much attention to it. There’s somebody speaking bad about me right now that is up that is high in the world of of the religious world. But that’s all right. It don’t make no difference. And Kaiap has said all kind of bad things about Jesus. But he said, “I’ll kill you.” So I’ll be back in three days. [Laughter] That’s Jesus. You said and Jesus said, “You ain’t killing me. Ain’t nobody no one taketh my life.” Why? What made John say that as an old man? My God, you’re balling him all. Why? Because he handled Jesus. He touched Jesus. You understand? He had fellowship with Jesus. Now he’s telling us, listen, you can handle him, too. You can touch him, too. You can fellowship with him. You got to have him in your eyes, and you got to have serenity of spirit. Do you see what I’m saying? You must produce God visibly. I’ve had people say, “What do you do? I have been standing there, you know, if I don’t say nothing and I have a briefcase in my hand, I I may look like a lawyer. I may look like a do a doctor cuz my hair’s white and stuff like that. And and you know, and but when I start talking, they go, “Oh, God, he’s a preacher. Why am I a preacher?” Why? Because Christ in me. Preaching is proclaiming. Teaching is explaining. Glory to God. I do both. I prophesy. Hallelujah. to myself, to you. Why? Why not? That doesn’t mean I don’t get tired. That doesn’t mean things don’t happen. But it didn’t make any difference. I produce God visibly. Even in my tipping, even if I’m in a restaurant, they go, I said, “The Lord been good to you.” They go, “Thank you.” See, they think it’s me. No, it’s Christ in me, the hope of glory. Most of us would keep our own money. But there’s something in you telling you to give. And watch this. There’s something in you telling you to give. Don’t need a thing. You give it. Good God. But because you want to, it’s such a blessing. God said, “You mean you willing to give to El Shadai, Elleon, Jehovah Shama, Jehovah Rojo, Jehovah Raha, Jehovah Sid Ku, Jehovah Gyra. You know how many names of God? Do you know how big he is? The facets of him. Oh, and God says, “I can bless this child.” Look, because they doing this out of their heart. Write this down. You should never guess or romanticize, but show the world you’re under orders from on high. You should never guess or romantic or romanticize. Why? But show the world you won’t you’re under orders from on high. I say I’m the reason why I’m preaching so much is I’m under orders. I’m I’m like this. I’m yours to command, sir. You see what I’m saying? Yeah. I I just saw something on television when they commissioned the Gerald R. Ford uh big is it a is it a aircraft carrier or something like that? It’s the biggest one we got. My lord, I like what that captain, he said, bring this boat alive. Yes, sir. Boom. They started running on top that deck. I thought, “My God, look at this.” You see Christ alive. They got to see Jesus in your eyes. They got to see him in the serenity of your spirit. They also You have to make him visible. But you can’t guess at this or romanticize this. You have to tell people, “I do what I do cuz I’m I have orders from the most high God.” Let me say it again so you can write it down. You should have You should never guess or romanticize, but show the world you’re under orders from on high. That’s why I do what I do. Why Christ in me? It’s a magnificent obsession. I walk into my house, you know, I like my house, but you know what I I walk into my into my my my library and I like what Meredith says. Sometimes she’ll say, “This is a lot of books, grandfather. I got a lot of book.” I’ve read most of them. I’m still I’m trying to get them all, Terry. I won’t read them all. I got them in there. I mean, I got I mean, I got a fine library. In fact, Fritz Brown been with He’s my oldest employee other than Kathy. He he been with me 34 years I think now I think it was 34 and he said boss I I I if Jesus tell you go by the way of the grave I don’t want anything you got but my god whoever gets your library they going to have it I said you’re asking me for my library no boss but let the Lord lead you love that library because there’s wisdom there’s history there’s God man any subject you can think about if you want to find it it’s in See why? Cuz I don’t want to guess or romanticize. You see what I’m saying? I don’t just read the Bible. I study to show myself approved unto God. A workman that needed not be ashamed. Rightly dividing the word of truth. Write this down. The personality of Jesus must never be hidden. The personality of Jesus must never be hidden. We possess his spirit to what? To overflowing. I don’t care what I’m doing. I am not going to hide the personality of Jesus. I want it to overflow in me. Now, I I’ve been embarrassed of some of the things I’ve done. I’ve got mad, got in the flesh. Only time I ever sinned when I got in the flesh. And you know, God was wanting me not to get in the flesh. But old stubborn me decided want to do it. But you know, God loved me anyway. But just because he gave me grace don’t mean I don’t have to I don’t have to use it like that. See, we we must never hide the personality of Christ. Uh, I’m gonna say something that makes somebody mad. You might want to get rid of some of that Christianity. Well, I lost a few you right there, didn’t I? But all your homalytical, hommeneutical, philosophical, theological debate. I tell you one thing, I don’t like the way that lady looks. Well, don’t look at her. One man says, “I don’t believe I’m embarrassed to lift my hands.” I said, “Close your eyes. Nobody will see you.” I had one person say this about this church. Y’all think y’all getting too many black people? Look at y’all. Look at black people. What you say? I run them off. I ran them off. I said, “You know what? You ain’t part of a covenant. You don’t understand covenant.” I said, “We don’t have any black people in our church.” They went I said, “We ain’t got any white people neither. We ain’t got any red people. We ain’t got any Hispanic people. We got people. We have people that love God. Give yourself a hand clap for that. That’s what we got. I’m not going to put you in a category. You know, I said that to the holy congregation, the Church of God in Christ. It’s all Now, I’m going to tell you something that was almost 100% black. I said, “Y’all need to forget your color.” Boy, it got quiet in there. But never forget your culture because your color is just 1/16th of an inch of pigmentation. That’s all it is. I said, “We cannot.” I said, “I don’t like calling people African-American. I don’t like calling them Italian American. I don’t like calling them Spanish America. I like calling them Americans. We the people of the United States in order to form a per more perfect union establish just tranquility. You know, I mean the preamble to the Constitution. My point is, my God, quit looking and trying to divide each other. Let’s come together in the unity of the faith, the unity of spirit. Let’s get this thing done. Glory to God. Do you see what I’m saying? Then you won’t have all that stuff. See, when you’re possessed by Jesus, he don’t know what color you are either. His personality ain’t talking about that craziness. See, the personality of Jesus must never be hidden. We possess his spirit to overflowing. Write this down. Christianity is not a speculation on the mysteries of life. Everybody want to talk about the mysteries of life. That’s a mystery. Christianity is not a speculation on the mysteries of life. It’s not a theory of spiritual values. or a vague mysticism. Let me say it again. Christianity is not a speculation on the mysteries of life. It’s not a theory of spiritual values. It’s not a vague mysticism. What is it? It’s historical fact. He came. He died. He fell in love with us so much. He got to come back and get her. Thank you, Lord. You ought to see when I go away for four or five days, I come home. There’s Kathy just He’s home. Uh Pia said something that really blessed me today. She said, “You know, boss, when you and Miss Kath, we miss y’all. It kind of boring.” Well, I mean, they all doing their work. You know why? We bring life with us. Now, many of y’all know me, especially myself, I’ll argue with Kathy in front of everybody, don’t I? I’ll eat her lunch in in a meeting, son. I mean, I just And I see the directors going, “But I’m doing business. Then when she comes home and she goes to bring her ah that’s between 9 and 5. What we eating tonight, mama? That’s business. And I put my lean on. What’s up, baby? Look at her. She see she don’t even like it. Christianity is not a speculation on the mysteries of life. It’s not a theory of spiritual values or a vague mysticism. It’s historical fact. I love this God I serve. It’s a magnificent obsession. My Lord, I love my family. I’ve been able to say that now. I used to I never was saying those things. I didn’t. No, no. You got to understand. You see, you’re in love, but when you fall in love, it falls on you. You see what I’m saying? And uh Can I say something? I’m gonna say it, and I know I’m gonna get some criticism on that. I I cannot backslide. Uh Pastor Kenny, why? Because I don’t want to. What in hell do I want? What am I willing to go back to? I’ll say it again. I don’t mean this arrogantly properly. I mean, I’m 68 years old and I still get hit on by women. Can you believe this crazy stupid stuff? I think, “Oh, you blind. Look at me. Look how loose this is. You done lost your ever loving mind, girl. That’s the craziest thing in the world.” But you know what? A lot of guys my age, they like that. Woo. You think I’m going to lose my ministry, lose my family? What would I tell Kathy? Not much. She’d kill me before I’d have a chance to say anything. She’d And she’d believe for me to be raised from the dead, then she’d kill me again. She She kill you dead. She told me, “I kill you dead.” Well, good lord. That’s bad. When she kill you dead, what would I tell Jod? Good God almighty. Daddy, you done lost your crazy. What would I tell Meredith? Oh, God. What would I tell you? That ain’t going to happen. Now, I don’t stand in my strength. I stand in the strength of the Lord. You know, I I’m very honest, man. Kathy’s always trying to get me checked out about something, ain’t. So, I said, “Okay, you know, supposed to take care of your body.” Well, you know, you ain’t had your prostate checked in a long time cuz it’s in the back. And if I can’t see it, I ain’t worried about it. You understand what I’m saying? I just want leave it alone. I don’t like that. I don’t like that. But I know. I know. I know. I know. Look at it. Got to do it. You got you got to do what you got to do. But they ask you some of the craziest dumbest questions ever seen in your life. So I walked in. How do you feel, Reverend? They know I am, Reverend. We watch you on tele. I said, “I’m doing fine.” Great. And this is a new doctor. Looked at me like that. He says, “Well, how can I help you?” I said, “Well, I come to have this.” Pro said, “I need to ask one question.” He said, “What’s that?” I said, “Let me see your hands.” I went, “Oh, Jesus. Good God.” You got the big hands here. Good God. Oh, Lord. Help. So I mean he does the examination I mean like it’s nothing you know he’s talking like it this ain’t nothing well they get it all said the nurse comes in she got to take some information blah blah this so she asked me then she says this are you sexually active I said you got to ask my wife she said what I said ask my wife she says I am what’s up David says I’m not I ain’t answering that question I thought that’s a kind of a I mean how many people would tell the truth on that, right? That’s true. You know, I said, “Why do you need to know that?” He said everything was okay. Well, it’s it’s in the form. I said, “You got a scissors, cut that piece out.” When they had when he opened my chest, I had a defect. Uh I had crossed the artery. That’s that’s why I wasn’t sick and I was out the house. I mean, it was just a miracle. Yeah. The people coming in the room, they come like this and Terry did like this. had their hands like this and I said, “Can I help you out?” “Well, are you going to ask us?” I went, “Ask me.” I said, “What?” “Well, the most asked question after you’ve had open heart surgery.” I said, “I don’t.” I said, “Kathy, we have any questions to ask?” She says, “No.” I said, “No.” I said, “Well, what is the most asked question? When can you have sex?” I looked at Kathy. She looked at me. I said, “I think we can figure this out by ourselves. Is that the craziest thing you ever heard of in your life? I thought to myself, is that the most asked question? We didn’t even answer it. I thought it was kind of silly. Why do I even get on that? I don’t know. I know what she’s saying cuz you’re obsessed with it. No, no, I’m not. I said, “No, I’m not.” Write this down. A firsthand faith thrives in unexpected places. Remember, a secondhand faith is not infectious. There’s nothing infectious. There’s nothing infectious about a secondand faith. It’s first hand or nothing. Watch it. A firstand faith thrives in unexpected places and will overcome the immovable things of the world. It’ll change every report a doctor tell you. Amen. It thrives in unexpected places. A firsthand faith thinking, how can he say that when everything’s going wrong? Because see, that’s thriving in this unexpected place. And now it will move this impossible thing you say that can’t be moved. Let me say it again. At firstand faith thrives in unexpected places and will overcome the immovable things of the world.
