日本一周中に軽バンの車両トラブル…急遽撮影を中断することになりました
Hey guys, it’s Yuuka! I’m filming this kind of last minute today because… it’s an emergency. Papa Clipper suddenly stopped working… Lately I’ve been going to China and doing a bunch of other stuff, so I haven’t driven my little van in a while. But today I was planning to go on another long trip, so I came to load up my stuff— and the key wouldn’t open the door… Let me just show you real quick. So this is the key to my mini van. No matter how many times I press it, it won’t unlock. ※Papa Clipper is officially broken… Let’s try opening it manually. Even when I turn the key, the engine won’t start… Nope, it’s dead. What’s wrong, Papa Clipper… Come on, hang in there! I often sleep in my car when I travel, but I never leave the engine running overnight or anything. I always make sure to turn it off properly before sleeping. So why is this happening… I checked and nothing seems to be left on inside the car. Like the rice cooker I keep inside, and all the other electric stuff— they all run off my portable power station. So I don’t think it’s the car battery’s fault. But based on how it’s acting, I feel like the battery might be dead. I’m not totally sure what’s causing it yet though. So I contacted the shop that customized this van— it’s called B-Stage— and they said they’d come over to check it out. So we’re gonna have Papa Clipper examined. I actually had plans to travel to a certain prefecture starting today, and I even made a shooting schedule and everything… But that’s all on hold for now. Safety first—so I’ll let the pros take a look at it. If this had happened while I was on the road, I’d have been totally doomed. So now, B-Stage is here to help me out! Thanks so much for coming. So, um, my Papa Clipper… I mean, my van suddenly stopped moving… and the key wouldn’t unlock it either. Could you please take a look? Sure, no problem. Thanks, I appreciate it. Alright, I’ll hold on to your key. So the battery’s stored here, right? Yeah, it’s right under this bed section. If the battery’s dead, can you tell right away? Like just by looking? We’ll measure the voltage. If there’s no voltage, it means the battery’s dead. ※Me pretending I totally understand: “Ah, gotcha!” ~Measuring voltage~ It’s only at 2 volts… Normally it should be around 13.8 volts. At least over 12 volts. So it’s basically out of juice, right? Pretty much empty. That’s why the engine wouldn’t start. We’ll hook it up to a portable battery and give it some voltage. Oh no, Papa Clipper’s voltage is way too low— looks like it’s turning into an emergency operation! Watching from the side makes me feel kinda bad… ※The engine just started…!! It’s running now on a backup battery. Thank you so much! Is the battery just old? Yeah, looks a bit aged—probably hasn’t been replaced in a while. Yeah, I don’t think I ever replaced it… It’s probably been like 3 or 4 years. Usually it needs replacing every 5 years or so. Then this is actually perfect timing. Let’s include a battery replacement and a full inspection while we’re at it. Thank you so much, and sorry for the trouble… So, Papa Clipper’s been checked up just now, and apparently it needs a more detailed inspection. So it’s being taken to B-Stage for a full checkup. It’s kind of sad, honestly. I think it’ll have to stay hospitalized for a bit. Get well soon, Papa Clipper… Papa Clipper has been emergency transported for inspection. We’ve arrived at B-Stage. ※Thank you as always for putting up with my requests! I wonder what caused it to stop working… Well, if I had to guess— last time we checked the battery, it was within normal range, so it seemed fine. But since I’ve been driving to places like Okinawa and Ishikawa, doing long-distance and night drives a lot, it’s probably been putting a lot of strain on the battery. Oh really? Yeah, I do drive a lot at night too. And since I use the headlights more than during the day, that ends up using more power than a normal mini van. So the battery wears out faster, and I guess its life just ran out earlier than usual. Ah, I see. Nowadays, batteries tend to die all of a sudden without warning. Old cars used to give you a hint, like the engine would crank slowly. You’d get a bit of a warning sign first. But modern batteries push themselves till the very end. Yeah, it really happened out of nowhere. It just suddenly wouldn’t start. A lot of people panic like, “Ahh it won’t start!” when that happens. So yeah, it’s a pretty common story. Other than that, was there anything else that bothered you or anything you’d like to try or upgrade? Just let us know anything. Yeah, there are actually a few things. I made a little list for today. Great, tell me all about it. We actually messaged about this the other day, but— it’s about the air conditioner. In summer, I often sleep in the van overnight. But when I close the curtains and stay in the back, I barely feel any cool air. It gets super hot back there… So I’ve been thinking about adding an air conditioner in the rear. I watched your video about it, and yeah, it totally made sense after seeing that. Since it’s a kei van, there’s only so much space to work with. If we install the usual car A/C system people use, it gets way too cramped. So I’m thinking of something space-saving— like a home-style A/C setup, where the indoor and outdoor units are separated. We’ll put the outdoor unit under the floor, and carefully pick a spot inside where it won’t get in the way. It’ll run off either the portable battery or an external power source. That way, you can stay cool even with the engine off. That’s awesome, thank you! I’d be so happy if that actually happens. We’ll make it happen somehow. I’ve got a few more things I’d like to ask about. Mind if I explain while we take a look at the car together? Since we’re at it, I might as well upgrade some of the custom parts too! The first thing that’s been on my mind— well, not exactly a problem, more like something I *want* to do… I really wanna add a display screen! Like, install a monitor somewhere around here so I can watch movies or play games when I’m relaxing. ※It’s kinda hard to tell, but I mean this area right here. I was thinking of attaching it with a monitor arm, but then I got scared— since it’s plastic, what if it breaks or cracks? So I wanted to ask what would be the safest way to mount it. If it could fold away when I’m not using it, that’d be nice, but that would take up more space too. So I’m trying to figure out how to balance that. Also, the A/C we’re planning to install might go right where the curtain rail is now. Oh, so that means it might overlap with the monitor? Yeah, we could lower the monitor a bit, or worst case, maybe move it near the rear window. ※Ideally, I’d love one that folds up into the ceiling. Would that be hard to do? Maybe with an arm here… Do you think this size of monitor would be good? I’d actually prefer something a bit bigger. Okay, let’s look for one, then. There are some foldable monitor arms available, and support mounts too. I’ve done that kind of setup before. But if it’s too big, it’ll hang down to about here— and get in the way a bit. We’ll figure something out though. Yeah, let’s make it work somehow. Thank you so much! Also, I still have like five more things I’d like to ask. Let me hop out for a second. When I’m driving, this door here makes this weird rattling sound. Like *chiri-chiri-chiri*. I always hear it when I’m filming, and I end up editing it out later. ※I’ve secretly been struggling with this mystery rattle for ages. Yeah, that sound around here— it gets pretty loud when the car’s moving. It kinda bothers me, so I wanna fix it. We can fix it by adding some soundproofing material. Ah, that’d be great—please do! Thank you so much. That’s everything for now, I think—thank you for listening! And next up… um… it’s about the navigation system… The nav screen kinda broke… It originally had this protective film on it, but I thought it was just a screen protector and peeled it off. Then it stopped responding to touch… like, totally unresponsive. I still have that film here, though. Oh… that was a bold move… Yeah, I know! So now I really wanna fix the nav system. I actually bought a new one myself, can I grab it real quick? It’s this kind of navigation screen I bought— do you think it can be installed? ※Note to self: I really should’ve asked *before* buying it! Yeah, it’ll be fine. Really? Awesome, I’d love to get it installed then. We’ll replace the old one. Thank you so much! If you’re curious about the “Nav Destruction Incident,”
check out the *Japan Road Trip: Miyazaki Edition*! So when I’m driving, I usually keep the curtains closed, since the back always gets messy. I try to keep it off-camera that way. But they tend to open up, so I was thinking maybe add some magnets to keep them shut. ※This could probably be solved if I just learned to tidy up better. Also, the curtains over there are a bit too long, so they get wet when I use the sink. I’ve been thinking about changing them out. Maybe to something softer—not so stiff— and cute, like a nicer fabric curtain. I’ve thought of a few pattern ideas. But blackout curtains, you know, they tend to be pretty stiff. So I’ve been looking into softer materials within that range. Something light and bright, not too puffy-looking, so the space doesn’t feel smaller. Something that just hangs straight down nicely. Yeah, like a smooth vertical drape. I’d love to talk about that properly next time too. And lastly— When I film car camping or driving scenes, I always have to set up my camera on a tripod every single time. I kinda wanna make that process easier. So I was thinking about mounting the camera here. Like maybe embedding this part into the car interior. You mean installing the screw mount directly into the van? Yeah, that should be simple enough. If we added some metal fittings or a small arm or stand mount, it might get bulky real fast. So if we just add a screw hole where you can attach what you need when you need it, it’ll be super convenient and clean. That’s exactly what I want! Just tell us roughly where you’d like it placed. Okay, I’ll decide on that and let you know. Got it. Thank you so much! I can’t wait to see Papa Clipper come back upgraded! ※Trying not to get in the way of the inspection, just wandering around a bit. That food truck over there looks adorable, let’s check it out. They said it’s okay for me to open it, so here we go. I’ve actually never been inside a food truck before. Whoa, but the front looks totally normal! It’s just like a regular mini van. It’s so hot… wait, give me a sec. ※Got punished for sneaking inside uninvited. But really, it feels just like my kei van, totally drivable. I thought food trucks were way bigger than this, but it’s actually a normal size. Wow… I really wanna try running a food truck someday too. Alright, let’s go check out the back. ※Basically just wandering around by myself at this point. Wow… Look, look! Is it okay to step inside with shoes on? ※Since it’s a kitchen, I’ll make sure to ask before stepping in. Whoa… It’s a *real* kitchen in here! Right now they’re checking Papa Clipper, and I didn’t wanna get in the way, so I kinda escaped over here— well, more like snuck over, actually. I’ve always admired food trucks, and I’ve always wanted to try it someday, so it kinda feels like a dream come true! Ah… welcome! We’re selling beer exclusively for people taking a break from drinking (apparently). Would you like to try some? If I ever ran a food truck, I wonder what I’d sell. I can’t really cook, so… maybe cup noodles? ※Or maybe I’ll sell “beer-flavored water.” When I sat in the driver’s seat earlier, I thought it was about the same size as Papa Clipper, but the back of a mini truck is actually super spacious. Like this— you can line up all the cooking tools like that, and it looks so easy to use. Isn’t it really wide? Like, 100—wait, no, not 100… Maybe like 230 meters or something? (definitely not) ※Neither the height nor the price is anywhere near my reach. This is so fun. I love my kei van, but this is really nice too. I’m getting excited now. If I ever run a food truck someday, you all better come visit! Buy some “sober beer,” okay? The front design of this food truck is super cute too. I’d love to make Papa Clipper look like that one day. But maybe it’s a bit too flashy… People would be like, “Hey, that’s Papa Clipper!” So I should probably keep it subtle. Still, it’s super cute though… I was actually supposed to start a trip today, but it’s on hold for now since Papa Clipper’s going into the shop. Thank you so much for taking care of it. We’ll do the inspection and maintenance, and make sure the customization goes just as you hoped. We’ll do our best, so please look forward to it. Thanks so much for watching till the very end today! Alright then, bye-bye! Say bye-bye too!
