海外盤発売情報シャウト･ファクトリーから届いた4K UHD BLU-RAY『リービング･ラスベガス』（1995）リリース･アナウンス。監督マイク･フィギスの最終承認を得た、16mmオリジナルネガ、および35mmデュープネガ／デュープポジ（光学処理ショット、タイトル･シークエンスほか）からの4Kデジタルレストア／HDRグレード。16mmネガの4Kスキャンを英シルバーソルト・レストレーションが、35mmデュープセクションの4Kスキャンをデュプリテック現像所が実施。レストレーションとHDR／SDRカラーグレードはデュプリテックが行っている。HDRはHDR10とドルビービジョンHDRをサポート。カラリストはデュプリテックのブレイク･デヴィッド･ブラッシンゲームとデイヴ･ルイス。

きれいごとの愛じゃない。
『失われた週末』『酒とバラの日々』など、アルコール依存･中毒を扱った名作や佳作は数多くあるが、『ストーミー･マンディ』『背徳の囁き』のマイク･フィギスが監督･脚本･音楽を手掛けた本作品も然り、90年代アメリカ映画を代表する忘れ難い作品に仕上がっている。有能だが酒浸りの生活のせいで映画会社をクビになった脚本家ベン（ニコラス･ケイジ）。彼はハリウッドでの生活を捨て、死ぬまで酒を飲み続けようと旅に出る。向かった先はラスベガス。この街でベンは娼婦サラ（エリザベス･シュー）と出会い、一夜を共にする･･･。人生に疲れ果てたふたりが、眠らない街で見つけた、辛く、切ないラブ･ストーリー。第68回アカデミー主演男優賞受賞（監督･脚色･主演女優賞ノミネート）ほか、1995年度の映画賞を席巻した作品である。

原作はジョン･オブライエンの1991年の自伝的小説（オブライエンは小説の映画化契約を交わしてから2週間後に自殺）。このオブライエンの痛ましい小説を、フィギスは驚くほど軽快で、そして巧妙なウィットに富んだ悲劇として脚色して才を見せる。ケイジとシューの演技からも目が離せない。虚ろな目と緑がかった青白い顔色のケイジは、滑稽でもあり、悲しくもあり、苛立たしいほどに自己破壊的でもあり、そして活力に満ちている。一方で娼婦を演じたシューは、ありがちな陳腐な感傷を排し、よろめくハイヒールで地面が揺れてもなお、自分の感情を貫く女性を力強く演じている。このふたりの表情の機微、一挙手一投足が4K UHD／HDRの観どころのひとつとなろう。
撮影は『モンスーン･ウェディング』『イン･アメリカ／三つの小さな願いごと』のデクラン･クイン。アトーン社製XTRプロッド／スーパー16方式／球面レンズ／アスペクト1.69:1撮影。上映は35mmブローアップ／1.66:1フォーマット。『レジェンド･オブ･フォール／果てしなき想い』などの俳優エイダン･クインの実兄でもあるデクランだが、ここではラスベガスのネオンジャングルを捉えた斬新なタッチで魅了する。音楽は音楽家でもあった監督フィギスが担当。音響エンジニアは『ベイビー･オブ･マコン』『ピーター･グリーナウェイの枕草子』のナイジェル･ヒース。
