東京外国語大学TUFS Cinemaは、映画を通じ、世界の諸地域における社会･歴史･文化の理解を深めることを目的として行っています。
『採集する人々』には、イスラエル占領下で自然保護を名目に規制されながらも野草採集を続けるパレスチナの人々が登場します。イスラエル／パレスチナ紛争の背景にある入植者植民地主義について理解を深め、土地と人間の根源的なつながりについて考えます。
TUFS Cinema aims to deepen understanding of social, historical, and cultural aspects in various regions of the world through film screenings.
The film “Foragers” features the Palestinians who continue gathering wild vegetables despite restrictions imposed under Israeli occupation in the name of nature conservation. It deepens understanding of the reality of settler colonialism underlying the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and prompts reflection on the fundamental connection between land and people.

あらすじ / BACKGROUND
春は野草摘みの季節。家族や友人と野の恵みを拾い集め、分け合い、食卓を共にする。野草採集はパレスチナの人々の暮らしに息づく文化だ。イスラエル占領下、この伝統的な採集行為が違法化された。食卓に欠かせないタイムの一種「ザアタル」、野草の王様「アックーブ」。これらの野草は今や、イスラエル人たちの集団農場で栽培される商品となった。自然保護官が目を光らせる中、それでも採集者たちは野をめぐる。見つかれば罰金、あるいは監獄。法廷では厳しい取り調べが待ち受けている…
Spring is the season for gathering wild vegetables. Families and friends gather the bounty of the fields, share it, and gather around the table. Wild vegetables gathering is a culture deeply rooted in the lives of Palestinians. Under Israeli occupation, this traditional gathering practice has been criminalized. Za’atar (a type of thyme with deep cultural roots as a culinary staple), akkuub (the king of wild vegetables), and other plants are, however, now commercial products cultivated on Israeli collective farms. Yet gatherers still roam the fields, under the watchful eyes of nature conservation officers. If caught, they face fines or prison. Harsh interrogations await them in court…
本作について / ABOUT THE FILM
人類にとって最も基本的かつ普遍的ななりわいのひとつである野生植物を採集して食する採集活動。イスラエル占領下で、採集を続けるパレスチナの人々。なぜイスラエル当局は、パレスチナの人々の伝統であるささやかな生業を「自然保護」を名目に執拗に規制しようとするのか。またその規制をすり抜けて、どのように人々は植物と付き合い続けているのか。ゴラン高原（イスラエル占領下シリア領）、ガリラヤ、エルサレムを舞台に、本作品はフィクション、ドキュメンタリー、アーカイブ映像を行き来しながら、占領者による文化の略奪に抗い、したたかに暮らしを紡ぐ人々の姿を軽妙なユーモアと瞑想的なテンポで描き出す。イスラエルによるパレスチナ人追放の歴史に連なる今日の紛争を日常生活の地平から捉え直すのみならず、土地と人間の根源的なつながりについて私たちの思考を促す。
Foraging—gathering wild plants for food—is one of humanity’s most fundamental and universal livelihoods. Under Israeli occupation, Palestinians continue this practice. Why do Israeli authorities persistently seek to regulate this modest traditional livelihood under the guise of “nature conservation”? And how do people navigate these restrictions to maintain their relationship with plants? Set in the Golan Heights (Israeli-occupied Syrian territory), Galilee, and Jerusalem, this work moves between fiction, documentary, and archival footage. With lighthearted humor and a meditative tempo, it portrays people who resist the occupier’s cultural plunder and tenaciously weave their lives together. It invites viewers to reconsider today’s conflict—rooted in Israel’s history of expelling Palestinians—from the perspective of daily life, and to reflect together on the meaning of the connection between land and people.

山形県生まれ。2017年から22年まで山形国際ドキュメンタリー映画祭のスタッフとして地域上映や若年層への映像教育に携わる。2023年10月からは市民活動としてパレスチナ映画の上映や配給活動を行っている。
Distributor, From Honjo to Palestine
Born in Yamagata Prefecture. Worked for Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival from 2017 to 2022, where he organized local film screenings and film education programs for young people. Since October 2023, as part of “From Honjo to Palestine,” a civil society group, he has distributed and screened Palestinian films.
黒木 英充 KUROKI Hidemitsu
東京外国語大学アジア・アフリカ言語文化研究所 教授
1961年生まれ。学生時代に進行中だったレバノン内戦に興味を持ち、隣のシリアで歴史研究に従事。90年代半ばからレバノンに通い始めた一方、2011年以降はシリアが内戦になり、一度しか行けていない。パレスチナの食文化はいずれの国のそれとも共通しており、彩り鮮やかで栄養価が高く、本当に美味しい料理が多い。この映画からいろいろ学びたい。
Professor, Research Institute for Languages and Cultures of Asia and Africa, Tokyo University of Foreign Studies
Born in 1961. I became interested in the Lebanese Civil War, which was ongoing during my student years, and conducted historical research in neighboring Syria. While I started to visit Lebanon frequently in the mid-1990s, I visited Syria only once during the last 14 years due to the civil war in Syria. Palestinian cuisine shares much in common with that of both countries—it’s colorful, highly nutritious, and full of truly delicious dishes. I hope to learn a lot from this film.
渡辺 晴海 WATANABE Harumi
東京外国語大学 国際社会学部 卒業生
幼少期を新潟の山間部で過ごし、山菜を採ったり食べたりして育つ。在学中はコーヒー生産者に会いにルワンダに渡航。帰国後、外大で岡真理先生講演会や「GAZA FACES」展示などをオーガナイズ。
Graduate of School of International and Area Studies (B.A.), Tokyo University of Foreign Studies
Harumi spent her childhood in the mountainous region of Niigata prefecture, foraging and eating sansai (wild mountain vegetables). While at university, she visited and stayed in Rwanda to meet coffee producers. Back at TUFS, she organized events such as lecture by Professor Mari OKA and the “GAZA FACES” exhibition.

1978年静岡県生まれ。魚釣りへの熱中が高じて、人と自然の関係や環境問題に関心を持つ。生態人類学を専攻し、アフリカと日本を往復しながら、熱帯林に暮らす人々と自然の関わりについて研究してきた。
Associate Professor, Graduate School of Global Studies, Tokyo University of Foreign Studies
Born in Shizuoka prefecture in 1978. Loves fishing. Interested in environmental issues and the relationship between humans and nature. Majoring in ecological anthropology, he has visited Cameroon many times and has continued to research the relationship between people living in tropical forests and nature.
