【聖地巡礼】夏の尾道で映画「リライト」の舞台を巡る【ロケ地巡り】
I came to Onomichi in Hiroshima Prefecture. Onomichi has been the setting for numerous films, dramas, and anime, including director Nobuhiko Obayashi’s Onomichi Trilogy. Any part of the city is picturesque. We will visit the filming locations of the movie “Rewrite,” which is set in Onomichi in the summer. When you get off the station, you will see a Rewrite poster at the tourist information center welcoming you. There are Rewrite posters all over the city and I get so happy every time I come across one. We arrived at Cinema Onomichi, which is located very close to the station. The film has been running for a long time since its public screening on June 13th. Cinema Onomichi actually appears in the movie, so it was also a filming location. It’s a luxury to be able to watch a movie at Cinema Onomichi and then tour the filming locations around the city of Onomichi. After watching the movie, head to the filming locations of Rewrite! The slope that Miyuki takes to school is located just below the Tenneiji Temple three-story pagoda. You can see the ropeway in the distance. The Jizo statue here seems to have been part of a movie set. This is the same place where Miyuki had her memory erased. After descending a little, we stop by Ushitora Shrine before boarding the ropeway. It also appears at the summer festival and in a date scene between Ayumi and Tomoe. The large camphor tree growing within the temple grounds is estimated to be 900 years old and is famous for appearing in the movie “The Girl Who Leapt Through Time.” What was Tomoe thinking as she looked at the ropeway? Take the ropeway to the summit station. It costs 500 yen one way and 700 yen round trip, but we recommend walking back down the hills of Onomichi. A date scene between Yasuhiko, who is afraid of heights, and Miyuki. I rode it twice to film videos, but unlike Yasuhiko, no one said to me, “You like it, don’t you?” PEAK, the observation deck at the top of Senkoji Temple, was renovated a few years ago. The view is beautiful, but we head down from here to Senkoji Temple, our main destination. There are strips of paper featuring Miyuki, director Matsui Daigo, and theme song singer Rinne. There were autographs from Director Daigo Matsui and Eliza Ikeda. Please note that the Fukusuzu Festival will run until October 18th. We arrived at Setoda Port on Ikuchijima Island from Onomichi. The boat from Onomichi costs 1,500 yen one way, but there are also other options such as a bus from Onomichi or a boat from Mihara. Takane Bridge, which connects Ikuchijima and Takanejima, was only briefly shown in the film. When you leave the port, you’ll see the scenery you’ve seen in movies! It’s a night scene, and this is the parasol where Miyuki and Shosuke are sitting. Why not try walking on the embankment like Miyuki and Yasuhiko? I took a short bus ride to Setoda High School. The old school building has collapsed and students are leaving the classrooms to go and meet their future selves through the corridor. We walked a little and headed towards the sea. This is the water tower on the roof that we came all the way to see. This is the scene where Shigeru and Yasuhiko hold a strategy meeting. As a Shigeru fan, this is a must-see for me, but there are not many buses so it’s quite difficult to get there. They returned to Setoda Port from Setoda High School. A bench where Miyuki and Shosuke wait for the return ferry. The position of the bench may be different from when the movie was filmed. I returned to Onomichi from Setoda. This is Onomichi U2, the venue for the reunion. A scene where Tomoe reunites with the members of Class 3-4. A footbridge on the way to the after-party of a class reunion. I also took photos at night, but it was too dark so they didn’t come out very well, so I’m sorry it’s a daytime photo. On the overpass, Miyuki is approached by Shigeru and Atsuko, who are in the middle of a meeting about the reunion. The scene where Yasuhiko erases his male friend’s memory. It is located right in front of the ropeway station. This is the spot where Tomoe bumped into and fell. It’s night, but it’s also the scene where Yui hands Miyuki her business card after a girls’ night out. Yamatoyu, the venue for the four girls’ drinking party, is a Chinese izakaya renovated from a public bathhouse. The restaurant where Yasuhiko ate takoyaki with his male friend. The store name was listed in the credits and pamphlet, but is it Suzuko’s Watch Shop? “Kitsuneame” is the cafe that Miyuki and Suzuko visit. The karaoke bar “Linda Linda” was the venue for the after-party. A place to reminisce about the summer 10 years ago after a class reunion. I would like to visit the places that I wasn’t able to explore at my leisure on another occasion. Onomichi at night has a completely different atmosphere, and you’ll feel like you’re in a movie. Why not come to Onomichi to experience the world of rewrite?
