いよいよ映画ファン待望の超大作が出そろうサマームービー本番のシーズンが到来！日本上陸が待ちわびられていた人気シリーズ最新作『ジュラシック・ワールド／復活の大地』の見どころを紹介します。（文・米崎明宏／デジタル編集・スクリーン編集部）
イントロダクション
1993年にスティーヴン・スピルバーグ監督が発表した『ジュラシック・パーク』が映画界に革命を起こして3部作となり、多くのファンの要望で物語は『ジュラシック・ワールド』（15）に引き継がれ、さらなる3部作が完成。合計6作が全世界累計興行収入9400億円を突破する記録を打ち立てた「ジュラシック」シリーズ。人類がDNAを操作し、遥か昔に絶滅した恐竜を現代によみがえらせる奇跡が起きたことから始まるアドベンチャー・アクションの新章がいよいよ幕開けとなる。
前作『ジュラシック・ワールド／新たなる支配者』から5年後の世界が舞台。恐竜たちは赤道近辺に隔離されていたが、ある特殊チームがそんな恐竜たちのDNAサンプル採取に向かう。その極秘任務の目的とは? さらに時を同じくして赤道洋付近で恐竜に襲われた一家の船が難破するという緊急事態も起きていた…。
出演は、極秘任務チームのリーダー役に『ジョジョ・ラビット』のスカーレット・ヨハンソンが抜擢されたほか、『グリーンブック』のオスカー俳優、マハーシャラ・アリが傭兵役に。『ウィキッド ふたりの魔女』のジョナサン・ベイリーが恐竜のエキスパートに扮する。さらに『プライドと偏見』のルパート・フレンド、『マグニフィセント・セブン』のマヌエル・ガルシア＝ルルフォらが参加。
今回監督に選ばれたのは『ＧＯＤＺＩＬＬＡ ゴジラ』『ローグ・ワン／スター・ウォーズ・ストーリー』などで確かな実績を持つギャレス・エドワーズ。また脚本にはシリーズ第1作『ジュラシック・パーク』第2作『ロスト・ワールド／ジュラシック・パーク』を手掛けたデヴィッド・コープが28年ぶりにカムバック。スティーヴン・スピルバーグは製作総指揮を担当している。
ストーリー
陸・海・空の3大恐竜から貴重なDNAサンプルを採取せよ！
5年前、世界中に放たれた恐竜たちは、現代の気候や環境に応じきれず、現存する個体は赤道の近辺に隔離され、太古の時代に近い気候で生きながらえていた。そしてそんな熱帯生物圏の中でも、陸・海・空にわたる３大恐竜は、そのDNAに人類の命を救う特効薬を作るうえで重要なカギとなるものを内包しているという研究結果が示された。腕利きの秘密工作員ゾーラ（ヨハンソン）は、その遺伝物質を入手するというミッションを遂行することになった。そのため彼女が最も信頼する傭兵キンケイド（アリ）と彼の精鋭チームをはじめ、グラント博士の弟子である古生物学者ルーミス博士（ベイリー）、大手製薬会社のクレブス（フレンド）も加わった一行が、かつてジュラシック・パーク開園のために使われた研究機関が眠る島に向かう。ゾーラに課されたミッションは陸・海・空の３大恐竜のDNAサンプルの入手だが、もちろん最悪の危険が待ち構えている地域であることは違いない。
一方、そのころ赤道洋付近ではヨットで遊覧中に巨大海洋生物モササウルスに襲われ転覆する民間人の家族がいた。父親のルーベン（ガルシア＝ルルフォ）と彼の２人の娘、さらに長女の恋人の４人組だ。波間を漂う彼らは、一度はゾーラ一行に救出され、目的地サン・ユベール島に到着するが、思わぬ事態で再び家族だけで危険な恐竜が潜む密林の中をサバイバルすることになる。ルーベン一家を案じながら、ゾーラたちは着々とミッションをこなしていくが、サン・ユベール島の本当の危険性はまだ隠されたままだった…。
