The Shocking Betrayal That Ended Elvis Presley Friendship With Frank Sinatra…Mind-blowing Reason
what would you do if your music rival not only stole the spotlight but also seduced your fiance while you smiled for the cameras that’s exactly what happened between Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley but how did the truth come out and what happened when Sinatra found out let’s dive into a story Hollywood never wanted you to hear despite openly criticizing Elvis Presley’s wild music and provocative dance moves Frank Sinatra found himself in a surprising position he had to invite Elvis onto his national television show at that very moment the king of rock and roll was deep into filming GI Blues and his leading lady just so happened to be none other than Sinatra’s own fiance that’s why in this video we’re pulling back the curtain on one of the most shocking stories in showbiz history uncovering what really happened between Elvis and Frank Sinatra’s fiance and how it forever changed the dynamic between two of the most legendary entertainers of all time when Elvis Presley and the rise of rock and roll began pushing Sinatra and his entire generation out of the musical spotlight the legendary Kuner didn’t hold back he slammed the new genre as degenerate and phony sung by cretinous goons yet despite his harsh words the king was later invited to appear as a special guest on a televised program celebrating Sinatra’s own March 5th homecoming just as Elvis returned from his 2-year military service in Germany the reason Sinatra could no longer afford to ignore the explosive force that Elvis and rock music had become sweeping through America and captivating the world even with a jam-packed schedule shooting his upcoming film GI Blues Elvis made sure to carve out time for this once unthinkable TV appearance despite the tension bubbling beneath the surface Elvis and Sinatra appeared side by side on camera with picture perfect smiles they leaned into the rivalry cracked jokes and even entertained the audience with medleys of each other’s songs sinatra’s sudden embrace of rock and roll was no accident it was a clever strategic pivot not only did it help bridge the generational divide but it sent the ratings for his television program soaring elvis for his part saw the invitation as far more than a performance slot he saw a career-defining opportunity gaining the public support of old blue eyes could catapult his popularity with older more traditional audiences before long Elvis would begin performing regularly in the heart of Sinatra’s empire Las Vegas itself on the night of the broadcast Elvis arrived in a sleek black evening suit matching his host in every detail it was a clear sign the king was stepping into Sinatra’s sophisticated world on Sinatra’s terms he even held back on his iconic hip girrations the very moves that once got him censored on national television filmed only from the waist up to avoid offending viewers this time Elvis projected an air of maturity a refined version of the rock and roll rebel the world once knew though slightly awkward in his formal wear he carried himself with striking poise and elegance and yet even with the tonedown performance no wild dancing just some humorous shoulder hunches his devoted female fans couldn’t contain themselves erupting into uncontrollable screams during the televised performance Sinatra went as far as attempting to dance alongside Elvis a moment that starkly contrasted with his past rhetoric just two years earlier he had unleashed a scathing attack on rock and roll describing it in no uncertain terms it is the most brutal ugly degenerate vicious form of expression it has been my displeasure to hear it fosters almost entirely negative and destructive reactions in young people it smells phony and false it manages to be the marshall music of every sideburn delinquent on the face of the earth and I deplore this rancid smelling aphrodesiac it is sung played and written for the most part by cretinous goons with almost imbecillic repetitions and sly lewd in plain fact dirty lyrics elvis may not have missed a beat during his military service but that didn’t stop Sinatra from cracking a joke on air about the king’s missing sideburns at the same time Elvis had just left his future wife Priscilla Bolio behind in Germany while still publicly dating starlet Anita Wood but behind the curtain he was entangled in a fiery affair with none other than Juliet Prow prow a talented actress and dancer had been involved with Sinatra since they first met on the set of the musical Can the previous year sinatra was so enamored with her that he invited her to appear as a backing singer on his national TV special even performing songs directly to her as a public display of affection however when Prow began filming GI Blues with Elvis in April 1960 she took on the role of club dancer Lily and soon after fell into a romance with her leading man as had happened many times before Elvis and his magnetic charm drew in his co-star this time the affair would come to light not only to Sinatra but eventually to the world “elvis and I had an affair we had a sexual attraction like two healthy young people Prrowse later admitted openly but he was already a victim of his fans so we met in his room and never went out what made this revelation even more shocking was that Prrowse confessed Sinatra knew about the affair the entire time “frank and I are mature people we don’t go for this teenage bit about going steady and all that jazz,” explained Prrowse who was only 24 at the time but clearly wise beyond her years in navigating Hollywood relationships remarkably her relationship with Sinatra didn’t collapse under the weight of the affair instead it only seemed to strengthen she continued to accompany Sinatra to his engagements in Las Vegas and in 1962 he proposed to her proving that even betrayal couldn’t shake the bond they shared however the romance didn’t last long it faded quickly reportedly because Prow chose to refocus her energy and ambition on building her own career i was as much flattered as I was in love she later confessed because he was a complex person and after a few drinks he could be very difficult sadly despite her talent and rising profile Prow struggled to secure major roles in Hollywood which led her to pivot and seek new opportunities where she could truly shine on the stage ironically even though her singing voice had been dubbed in GI Blues Prow’s career took a dramatic turn upward when she landed the coveted lead role in the 1967 London production of the hit musical Sweet Charity that show eventually made its way to Las Vegas where Prow reinvented herself once again this time as a highly successful and admired cabaret performer meanwhile as time passed and careers evolved Sinatra and Elvis developed an unexpected friendship especially as their professional paths began to intersect in the booming Las Vegas entertainment scene of the late 1960s and early 1970s in fact Sinatra went so far as to place a deeply personal call to Elvis pleading with him to change the course of his life as the two men held their own headlining residencies in the dazzling heart of casino culture they also formed a tight bond with fellow superstar Tom Jones years later in a candid revelation shared by Jones’s publicist close friend and respected journalist Chris Hitchens Sinatra admitted that he had tried perhaps more than once to save the king from his downward spiral he told Tom Jones and me that he had just spoken to Elvis right before we all sat down for a drink in New York hitchens recalled “The king had been battling liver complications during his hospitalization in August 1975 and the toll of his prolonged drug use had only intensified the severity of his condition as concern mounted among his friends and family it was one fellow legend who took it upon himself to intervene in a way few ever dared.” According to Hitchens recollection of the conversation Sinatra recounted the moment vividly when I called the hospital in Memphis the girl working the switchboard asked “Who’s calling?” When I told her “Frank Sinatra,” I braced myself for her to come back with some wise crack like “Oh sure and I’m the Queen of England.” But to his surprise just moments later Elvis Presley himself picked up the phone proof that the receptionist must have instantly recognized Sinatra’s unmistakable voice i told him flat out he had to take better care of himself that he needed to stop fooling around i said “You’re too young to die.” Tragically exactly 2 years later to the day Elvis Presley would be gone on August 16th 1977 he died at the age of just 42 the official cause was heart failure but the deeper truth revealed it had been accelerated by years of heavy unrelenting prescription drug abuse so now that the truth is out Elvis Presley slept with Frank Sinatra’s fiance and Sinatra knew what do you think really happened behind the scenes of that bizarre triangle of I love and agree with all of it.
