衝撃の展開に世界が震える超話題作
謎の寄生菌によるパンデミックによって文明が崩壊したアメリカを舞台に、娘を亡くした男ジョエルが人類最後の希望となる少女エリーと旅を続けるサバイバルアクション「THE LAST OF US」。同名の大ヒットゲームをベースに米ＨＢＯが実写ドラマ化。
シーズン1は全世界で爆発的ヒットを記録。同年の第75回エミー賞では、作品賞など全24部門でノミネートされた。
シーズン2は原作ゲームの続編「The Last of Us PartⅡ」をもとにドラマ化。物語は前シーズンから5年後、ジョエルは弟トミーが治めるワイオミング州ジャクソンのコミュニティにエリーと身を寄せ、平穏な日々を送っていた。だが、19歳になったエリーは保護者のように構うジョエルに反抗し、周囲も気にするほど険悪な仲に。そんなある日、ジョエルを憎悪するアビーが反対勢力の「WLF」のメンバーらと現れたことから思いも寄らぬ危機に襲われ、エリーは再び壮絶な運命と対峙することになる…。ジョエルを「マンダロリアン」のペドロ・パスカル、エリーを「ゲーム・オブ・スローンズ（GOT）」のベラ・ラムジーが続投するほか、今シーズンのキーパーソンになるアビーを『ブックスマート 卒業前夜のパーティーデビュー』の新星ケイトリン・デヴァー、また名優ジェフリー・ライトが「WLF」のリーダー、アイザック役で出演する。前シーズンを上回る予想外の展開に号泣、そして心揺さぶられることだろう。
CHECK1 アメリカの大自然×感染者たちの脅威
大半の撮影はカナダ・アルバータ州のカルガリー。ロッキー山脈も近く、豊かな自然やそこにある廃墟を活用し、荒廃した世界をリアルに表現。一方、感染者は進化し、抗体を持つエリーが恐怖するシーンも。雪に一面覆われた町を目指し、感染者の大群が押し寄せるシーンには戦慄する。
CHECK2 HBOならでは！容赦なき展開
「GOT」のHBOが製作。しかも、原作ゲームシリーズを手掛けたニール・ドラッグマンとHBOの傑作「チェルノブイリ」（2019）の脚本家クレイグ・メイジンが再タッグしているだけに、原作世界に忠実。感染者たちや敵対する人間たちの攻防戦も容赦ない。前シーズン以上に視聴者を驚愕させる展開の連続だ。
CHECK3 注目の新星が集結
エリー役の演技が高く評価され、エミー賞主演女優賞候補にまで飛躍したベラ・ラムジー。そんな彼女に続く新星が集結。ディーナ役のイザベラ・メルセード（『エイリアン:ロムルス』）、アビー役のケイトリン・デヴァー（『ブックスマート』）、ジェシー役のヤング・マジノ（「BEEF／ビーフ」）など顔と名をしっかり覚えたい。
