  1. I wasn't allowed to participate in Pokemon as a kid, but have a peripheral knowledge obtained throughout my youth. My favorite is probably Bulbasaur with Snorlax as a super close second. I wonder what that says about me… 🤔

  2. This is a really well-done video!! I was surprised to see that it didn't have hundreds of likes because of how great this topic was presented. I actually wrote about the psychological tactics used by video game developers that hook their audiences for my senior thesis in high school, so it was really cool to see some of the research I did being brought up in your video. I've loved Pokemon ever since I was a kid, and it was really interesting to hear some explanations as to why this love still persists. It was also really great hearing a female YouTuber speak on Pokemon, as all of the videos I've watched have been exclusively posted by men. I'd really love to hear your different psychological takes on other topics and I'm looking forward to checking out your other videos, like the Spongebob and Mii one 🙂

  3. I have a theory that pokemon was the first ever fandom that young children could easily participate in. Before the internet it was the first shared language we had. Sure there were things like star wars, star trek and comic book culture but they were already established and targeted at older people. Pokemon content was just so accessible, I could go to the nearest corner shop and buy pokemon cards or magazines. It's crazy how everyone knew the rumours about mew in the ss anne truck or missingno before we had the Internet

  4. Charizard, Lucario & Haxorus. I love em' all. But these three are my absolute favorites. Especially, in thier first stages. As far as "Eeveelutions", Jolteon. Jolteon is the one for me in that awesome bunch.

  5. Working in the TCG space, nostalgia is 100% the primary driver for a majority of buyers; whether it's collecting all of their favourite Pokemon's cards, the set that they never finished as a kid, or trying to share those memories with their own kids. Especially around the release of the 151 set last year, there was a marked increase in the crowds showing up at card shows, but interest (in the cards at least) seems to be plateauing again. And no I didn't guess your fave, I was wagering on the Shellos-line since you're a gen 4 girlie.

Also great job with the captioning, it's a lovely accessibility feature~

Favorite Team of Mons: Crobat (Zubat always got a bad rep), Rowlett, Joltik, Sableye, Spheal, and Bidoof

  6. As someone who has never skipped a generation of mainline Pokemon games… it’s difficult to claim any “overall” favorite for me, because I literally have several hundred by now at least. So instead of just picking based on stats or design or typing, I’d have to go with with the one that is my favorite CHARACTER in the anime, MewTwo. Plus… it looks like a cat and I love cats. 😂

  7. Of the four categories, I guess I’m an explorer, though I never would have called myself that. 😅 I’m not usually into the socializing, the completionist stuff or the grinding/killing. Although, I DO feel a LOT of excitement if I take down a powerful Pokémon boss. Like five minutes ago, I just took out a 5- star Terra raid Gradevoir on Scarlet and I’d spent so many times losing against it that when I finally won, I about screamed… lol

And maybe I’m a BIT of a socializer, but not much. I don’t enjoy battling much. I prefer to trade or now, with the update to Scarlet/Violet, play “Fake Out” or “Hide N Seek”.

  8. My favorite Pokémon is and always has been Slowpoke ever since I played Yellow for the first time. Though I love pretty much all dopey Pokémon, Slowpoke and Slowbro are my OGs.

  9. I’ve been around since the beginning of Pokémon. So it’s hard to truly have the ONE favorite for me. But I will at least list my favorite from each generation at least!

    Generation 1 (RBY): Primeape
    Generation 2 (GSC): Granbull
    Generation 3(RSE): Flygon
    Generation 4 (DPPL): Porygon-Z
    Generation 5 (BW/BW2): Gothitelle
    Generation 6 (XY): Meowstic (F)
    Generation 7 (SM/USUM): Golisopod
    Generation 8 (Sw/Sh): Dragapult
    Generation 8.5 (PLA): Ursaluna
    Generation 9 (S/V + Teal Mask/Indigo Disk): Palafin, Hydrapple

  10. This is such a word salad of a video. How do you even catch a level 4 pikachu in a game with no levels but CP? Also you mentioned how trading was important in the older games, gen 1 and 2 could only trade between each other. Gen 3 and forwards you could not.

  11. Pokémon Advance Battle theme goes unnecessarily hard. That was is my favourite. Johto League Champions theme and, of course, the original Indigo League theme, are in the rest of my top 3.
