I used to be a Taiwanese tennis player and I have practiced on this court before. The outdoor courts are fine, but the indoor courts (where this tournament is being played) are just very… weird. They're categorized as hard surface courts, but in fact, they're more like carpet surface courts which make the ball very fast and flat. That's why you don't see many long rallies, and you'd often see hard-hitting players winning here. Chung's probably not in his best form, but with the court condition and Uchiyama's playstyle, it definitely made the match much harder for Chung.
