  1. Are leg techniques allowed in a sequence of throws? For example, if you start with an ouchi-gari or kouchi-gari but can't finish it, can you quickly switch to a te-guruma? Or are leg grabs only permitted to complete the original technique, like using a ken-ken ouchi-gari with a leg grab to secure the throw?

  2. Judo should stop dilly dallying with IDIOTIC rule sets in so called attempts to make the sport appealing to TV and the general public…the original rule set made in the 60s and 70s was by far the most appealing to the fighters and appealing in terms of participation strip these IDIOTIC rules away whoever is making these idiotic rule sets doesn't care about the sport itself they care about themselves and the control they have on the sport itself…its time this all changed before judo dissapears completely quickly back to the old system before it's already WAY TOO LATE

  3. This is just sad. No direct leg grab attacks? Morote Gari one of Kodokan techniques is still being excluded.

  4. The Japanese rule is better. This makes it tricky to distinguish – how much of an attack does one need to make before you're able to grab the leg? Can you grab any leg that's attacking you?

  5. This seems like a "counteroffer" of the Japanese rules. Lame. Too many referees are going to mess this up. I think having a single grip before going to the legs is much easier for everyone, refs and competitors alike.

  6. Jpan sold Judo cheap to the IJF’s obsession with showmanship. Judo is no longer a martial art for efficiency and sophistication, trying to differentiate from wrestling by paying with sophistication and diversity of techniques

Too bad Japan’s population is declining and it’s too hard to find Japanese jujutsu practice in the West to appreciate and preserve the art of self-defense

  7. I am really hating IJF, Lascau in particular. He's a liar and corrupted man. But I hope now they start to listen the Judo community.

  8. Sad that judo has a dictatorship. This is why 100 rulesets are a better alternative. More reading but fairer

  9. I still feel this seems too arbitrary with potential for a lot of 'exceptions'. Yes, bring back leg grabs, but why this 'only this way and not that'. Just make it clear and simple like the AJJF.

    Laissons tomber cet art fichu.

  11. I promise you that I and most other fighters will do a lot less upright judo throws like uchimata and standing seoi nage. Everyone gonna rather wait and Counter with leg grabs. This is not a good thing

  12. Just use japanese rules. There is too much judges decision involved. And it s really complicated for watchers.

  13. This complicates things so much. Try explaining this to spectators while the fight is happening… I think it might make things more controversial even.

  14. I’m going to try making “kodokan rules” the hip choice at my dojo…

Are you a kodokan hipster or an IJF stooge?

  15. Such a rule set can cause confusion and make it difficult for referrers to decide. Japanese rules change also require testing in real tournament to prove their effectiveness. In my view, the Japanese rule set appears more reasonable and practical.

  16. the first rule is no good. it is just making the escape harder so there are less technique to be shown. if they want to see judo, aka demonstration od technique, then just add the rule saying you must immediately attack when you grab the leg

  17. Trust the IJF to find a way to make a rule change that doesn't satisfy anyone and is too complex to properly referee

  18. As a French, i assume you saw that french newspapers have written it was a way to end Riner's domination?

I'm not in Judo, eventhough i love using it in MMA. But i think it's navel gazering from french medias. Riner is near to retirement and Japanese have more fighters in small weight classes. And they would change the rules for one man near to retirement?

    Am i wrong?

  19. Slow death of Judo will continue with more and more complicated rulesets. In my city in Poland there were 2 judo clubs when I was a child and now there is none and kids prefer BJJ these days.

  20. tout ça n'est que supposition pour l'instant, du moins, je l'espère car à part créer de nombreuses erreurs d'arbitrage, je ne sais pas ce que ça va faire
