西島秀俊、ラシダ·ジョーンズ共演の『サニー』。京都に住むアメリカ人の女性スージーの人生は、ある日突然一転する。夫と息子が不可解な飛行機事故で消息不明になったのだ。「お見舞い」として彼女の元に贈られたのは、夫が勤務していた電子機器メーカーが製造したという新型家庭用ロボット、サニー。彼女の心の隙間を埋めようとするサニーに始めは腹を立てるスージーだったが、やがて彼らの間に思いもよらない友情が生まれることに。家族に何が起きたのか暗闇に隠れた真相を一緒に探っていくうちに、2人は危険に巻き込まれていく。
