Why is it a big deal to her? He just said that he doesn't have time for dating right now and that he needs to focus on his baseball career, maybe he'll be ready to date her eventually but in the meantime she has to understand and respect that and supportive towards him and his baseball career to show that she likes him. She doesn't need to freak out and throw an unnecessary tantrum cuz he not really rejecting her he wants to show her how successful he can be as a baseball player.
