【日本の神社仏閣旅】2月22日は「猫の日」/神社仏閣で出会った猫と御朱印
This is Masaharu Goshuin Travel. This time’s theme is shrines and temples cats. February 22nd is “Cat Day”. So, I put together a list of cats I met at shrines and temples. I hope this will be helpful when you go out. The deities enshrined at Imado Shrine are “Izanagison” and “Izanamison.”
He is the god of couples. They were the first married couple in Japan, and were blessed with the divine virtue of matchmaking and marital harmony. It is also said to be one of the shrines where beckoning cats originated, and you can meet beckoning cats
In various places within the shrine grounds, including around this shrine . There are many chairs on the grounds where you can rest, so be sure to look for a cat to relax in. Now, here is the goshuin. You will receive a beckoning cat stamp!
In the upper left is a cat wearing a dragon, which is the zodiac sign of Reiwa 6! This shrine is located in Iriya, downtown Tokyo. The main shrine was built in 1866. It escaped damage from the great earthquake and air raid.
And sometimes I meet cats in the shrine grounds. I was there on this day! Now, this is the Goshuin seal that I received on the day. The deities enshrined are “Amatsu Nikone no Mikoto”, “Omatsu Daimyojin”, and “Otama Daimyojin”.
It is also called “Nekogami-san” and dates back to the “Awa Cat Riot” 300 years ago. The village headman’s daughter Omatsu was executed for an innocent crime. A story about the revenge of the beloved cat Otama.
The people who had committed crimes were cursed one after another, and the spirits of Matsu and Otama were enshrined here. By the way, candles and incense sticks were prepared just like in a temple. On the left side of the shrine building are “Omatsu Daimyojin”, “Otama Daimyojin”, and “Cat Memorial Hall”.
Next to the “Cat Memorial Hall” is a “Wish Fulfillment Sasuri Cat”. I pray by rubbing my head if I want to pass the exam, or by rubbing my hands if I want to pass the exam. On the day of the event, we received the “Monthly Goshuin for January 2020″.
Check the shrine’s official Instagram for the latest information and dates and times when the awarding center will be closed! This temple began with the construction of a small hermitage during the reign of Emperor Monmu (683-707). Komatsuji Temple has a history of rise and fall.
It was revived in the fourth year of Jo’an (1174), and is said to have received donations from Tokugawa Ieyasu. You can see the “Main Hall” right in front of “Niomon”. This “main hall” is thought to have been rebuilt in 1855. Several cats were relaxing in front of the main hall.

Chusonji Temple is one of the World Heritage Sites. It was founded in 850. As I was walking along the approach, a cat approached me in the snow. Inside the hidden hall is the Golden Hall, which was built in 1124.
And this is the Goshuin seal that I received. I had it inside the Konjikido Obido. This shrine is just a short walk from Hotaru Chaya on the Nagasaki tram. It seems that you can sometimes meet cats inside the shrine grounds. The precincts had a peaceful atmosphere, with neighborhood children also coming to play.
Now, the Goshuin I received is this cat Goshuin. A temple located in a quiet residential area in Setagaya. This is the time when the leaves are in full bloom. As you enter the Sanmon gate and walk along the approach, you will see the Buddha Hall in front of you.
I put my hands together and suddenly looked at the lantern next to me, and there it was! Heart-shaped boar eyes. It is often casually decorated on lanterns. Now, Gotokuji Temple is popular because you can see many beckoning cats. I was surprised to see so many people from other countries.
The “Shofukuden,” which was under construction, has now been completed, and the beckoning cats that have been dedicated to the shrine are lined up. By the way, her official name is “Lucky Nekoji” and she does not have a small coin. Now, here is the goshuin that I received. I received a note.
The principal image of Buddha, “Shakyamuni Buddha,” is written in print. A bakery located on the way from Gotokuji to Odakyu Gotokuji Station. There were a lot of breads lined up in the store, so I bought a lot after thinking about it… My family raved about the rich orange and cream cheese bread.
I liked this matcha anpan. I’ll buy it again next time! Suwa Shrine is located near Kashiwa City Hall. The deity enshrined is “Takeminakata no Mikoto.” It was early in the morning on this day. There were several cats in the precincts. The monthly goshuin stamps are a new type of watermarked paper.
This shrine is located at the top of Mt. Karasawa in Sano City, where public transportation is not available. I went there because I was curious about the heartwarming and cute design of the Goshuin stamp , but I was also relieved to see a cat there too.
There is a long approach road from the parking lot and rest house to the shrine. Once again, I met a friendly cat along the way. “Karasawayama Shrine” is located on the ruins of Karasawayama Castle, and the shrine building is located on the ruins of the main enclosure.
I was able to see the stone walls around the shrine. Well, here is the goshuin that I received on the day. It’s also interesting that you can’t understand the design until you try it. The closest station was an unmanned station called Tada Station on the Tobu Sano Line.

Also, when I was walking around the temple grounds, I saw another cat. Additionally, there is a male black goat named Mei-chan on the grounds. friendly. Now, here is the goshuin that I received. Rai-sama’s character is impressive. The design changes every month and appears almost every time.
Also, when I visited, I was given a cute paper insert. The “Stone Steps to Success” are steep stone steps that appear in the story of Magagaki Heikuro. It was founded in 1603 (Keicho 8). This shrine is sponsored by the god “Fire Spirit”. Sometimes you can meet cats near the company office.
Well, here is the goshuin that I received on the day. This shrine is said to be the origin of the name “Saitama Prefecture.” As you walk down the long approach to the shrine, you will come to the “Chozuya”. This day is staged with marbles.
As you continue along the approach, you will come across a small mountain and proceed into it. This small mountain is a tumulus with a height of 8.7m and a circumference of 92m, and the shrine building is on top of the tumulus. There is a mysterious atmosphere when you go up the stone steps.
When I returned to the area near the awarding place, a friendly cat took care of me. And here is the Goshuin seal that I received on the day. The cat series is also popular and will be announced on the official website.
Right next to Keisei Kemigawa Station. It was founded in the year 11 of the Jogan era (869). It has been worshiped since ancient times as a god of marriage and protection from all directions. The main hall and the three Buddha halls are lined up in the precincts. On this day, there was a cat in front of the main gate, and it looked like a photo session. On that day, I received a goshuin book with a lovely red sage grass on it.
The goshuin stamp has a cute Amitabha Buddha. A path full of greenery. The chozuya, which was rebuilt in 1965, is also interesting. In front of the shrine are the “Fukuwari Monkey” and “Dream Come True Rabbit.” The main shrine building was undergoing major renovations. (As of August 2021).
The shrine is being renovated for the 500th anniversary of its enshrinement. Reiwa 5. Already completed. On the right hand side of the approach is a sofa where you can relax and a Kagura hall rebuilt in 1939. On this day, “Daifuku Goshuin” is available only on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month.
The goshuin stamp came with daifuku and tea. delicious! ! Although it was quite noisy, the cat was relaxing on the sofa. Now, the goshuin stamps are announced on the shrine’s official website on a monthly basis. In addition, the paper insert introduces “Hohon Hanshen”. informative.
A popular temple with goshuin stamps located in Ome City, far from the city center. It was founded during the Oei era of the Muromachi period (1394-1428). Goshuin stamps are received inside the main hall. Please note that there are holidays!
