山奥に佇む温泉の一番風呂を目指して。静寂な山の中で車中泊。
Finally, the moment has arrived. This is it. It’s time. The fact that this is happening means… Our long-term journey is beginning. We’ve stocked up on various supplies, so… Let’s hit the road. Exciting! Are we going? Let’s go! We’re heading from Kanagawa Prefecture to the mountains of Shizuoka.
It’s been a while, hasn’t it? A road like this. It’s 35km to the Sunto Gorge. This road is quite long, 35km. It’s quite challenging. Drive safely. Let’s go! What’s that? It’s not a deer, right? What’s this? What is it? I’ve never seen it before! Haha. A deer? No, not a deer.
What kind of animal was that…? Welcome, and thanks for your hard work. It’s cold outside. Yeah, it’s cold. The stars are beautiful. The stars are incredibly beautiful. It was far, huh? Thank you. Hurry, hurry! The cold air is coming in. It felt like it’s been a while since we took a mountain road.
I wonder what that animal was. What was it really, mysterious. Chibi: “It was me.” Chibi: “I was possessing it.” It was quite wobbly. It might have looked a bit like Chibi’s face. I’ll probably take a bath first thing tomorrow. Let’s take a bath. Want to eat? Let’s eat.
Is it okay to put the cassette stove in the middle today? Yeah, that’s fine. Okay, let’s do that. Let’s eat while we cook. I got that. Haha. Are you sitting together? Haha. I’m waiting. Are you waiting? Haha. Chibi and Bota boiled potatoes today, so… That’s great! All the bacon? Let’s go for it!
I’ll cut it a bit thick. Looks delicious. This bacon looks so tasty. I’ve prepared the best appetizer today. Thank you. From Kagoshima, Torisashi (chicken sashimi) from the Torisashi specialist store, Oomazakura-san. I ordered this at the end of the year. But I got the flu, so… I brought it with me.
So, shall we have a drink with this first? Let’s do it. I’ll make rice while we have a drink. Sounds good! Of course! Soy sauce. This soy sauce is delicious, it’s from Kyushu. Here. It comes with Kyushu soy sauce. Looks delicious. These are wings. They must be delicious. Definitely delicious. I’m salivating. Nice!
Let me have a bit. The smell is amazing. This soy sauce is seriously delicious. It’s garlic soy sauce, after all. Well then, here we go. Hey, hey, hey, hey! That’s not fair! Over there? (Haha) Here you go. Thank you. Let’s cheers. Cheers to the night at Sunto Gorge!
The camera settings were wrong, so the focus was lost halfway. Sorry… Delicious. Here it comes. Can I eat a bit before cooking? Sure, let’s do that. Let’s enjoy it slowly. Can I eat first? Go ahead, go ahead. Looks delicious. Can I eat it all at once with “Beriberiberi”? Haha.
That would be surprising. Haha. What a waste. Having two pieces is luxurious. This side is just the skin! Let me have a bit. Go ahead, go ahead. This is seriously delicious. You just naturally smile. Seriously silly. (Haha) Delicious, this is really delicious. It’s delicious. Chicken wings are tasty.
When we ate this in Kagoshima, it was delicious. It was incredibly delicious. This time, we ordered it, and it’s the same. It’s still delicious. Delicious. It’s amazing, the technology in Japan. Really amazing. We also brought octopus with wasabi. It was sleeping in the fridge at home… Can’t help it, it’s octopus with wasabi.
Shall we make it? Thanks. Well then, let’s… Should we eat some wings? No, really. I’ll get mad. It’s delicious. Irresistible. Eating in the car makes it taste even better, doesn’t it? I understand. Bota likes it too. He loves being in the car. Bota definitely prefers being in the car. Car dog.
He really likes this limited space. Rather than a spacious place. Bota: “That’s not true!” I was about to say the same thing. Haha. Bota: “That’s not true.” Sorry, Ryo-chan. For making it. No! Want me to say “ah”? Yes. Drooling. Haha. Critical hit! Don’t miss the hit. Haha. Delicious! Delicious!
Delicious no matter how many bites. Meeting Oomaki Sakura during our journey around Japan. It was quite an achievement. Yeah, really. Really. Delicious, right? Delicious. We love chicken sashimi, so it’s even more special. It’s in a place in the south of Kagoshima. Access is quite difficult. But if we go to Kyushu,
We might think, “Let’s go a little bit.” When we went camping in Okinawa, we purposely went there. Isn’t food amazing? Isn’t it that you feel like going for that? Because at some point, I definitely want to go to Morioka for cold noodles. Really? I’ll go to Iwate. And also Sano Ramen.
Sano Ramen, right? But when it comes to hot springs, don’t you think it becomes almost as much of a purpose? Hot springs are seriously only available there. As for food, you can get it delivered. Ramen might be a bit tricky, but… Still, it’s a bit…
But, you can’t just eat the same thing in Tokyo. Whether you can be satisfied with that is another story, but… After all, I think it becomes truly delicious when you eat it in the local area. But even so, there might be similar things nearby.
If you say that, there might be nearby hot springs too. Haha. That’s not the case. But you can’t enjoy the atmosphere, including those breathtaking views, nearby. In that sense, Sunamata Gorge… It’s nostalgic! Really nostalgic. The first prefecture of our Japan trip. We came to Sunamata Gorge towards the end of Shizuoka, right?
But, in the beginning, we didn’t really go around to hot springs that much, did we? So, essentially, it was our first time, wasn’t it? We soaked in the hot spring here, and I was really impressed. Moreover, I was deeply moved by this hot spring.
So, I thought hot springs are really great! That’s when I became fond of hot springs. I awakened to the charm of hot springs. Oh, is it okay? Sure, go ahead. It’s good now! (laughs) I was about to do it, but you said it! (laughs) Delicious! Like being between two beauties. (laughs) It’s amazing!
Chibi came over. Chibi: “Mommy!” So cute! I just noticed a camera setting mistake! I’m sorry… Can we eat it? Can we? The potatoes and broccoli are cooked, so it should be great. Awesome! German potatoes. I made it without garlic. Let’s eat! If it’s too thin or something, let me know. Delicious! It’s tasty.
The bacon is delicious. Bacon is delicious. Shizuoka brings back memories. Probably not many people have seen the video of Shizuoka. Around 30 views… Keep it sealed. Still sealed. I want to go around Shizuoka again. I understand, I understand. I liked Wasabi at the rafting grounds. And the Nirayama Reflection Furnace!
The Nirayama Reflection Furnace is really… Beautiful, right? The photo of the Nirayama Reflection Furnace and Mt. Fuji. But Shizuoka really has various scenic views. Miho no Matsubara was amazing too. It was good. And the hot spring with a view of the SL (steam locomotive). Nostalgic, right? That’s at the Michi-no-Eki (roadside station). Nostalgic.
Shizuoka is really charming, isn’t it? But there are memories like that in various prefectures. Nice. Where would you go if you went to Kyushu? First, it has to be Omazakura (Large Cherry Blossom Tree). This time, the goal is the Goto Islands. I want to eat Goto Udon.
Also, I want to visit Ramune Onsen again. I want to go! There’s a campsite called “Boi Boi Campsite” near Oita, known as the foothills of Kyushu, so I want to go there. But I also want to go to Miyazaki. It’s just that the locations are a bit different. Well, yeah.
I understand, I understand. But I want to go. The path depends on the purpose. When going to the Goto Islands, whether to go to Fukuoka, Nagasaki, Saga, or Kumamoto before Oita, or head north. If you’re going to Kyushu…
If you’re going to Nagasaki, you have to go back and head south again, which can be quite challenging. It would be nice if you could go to Kumamoto by road instead of taking a ferry. It would be great if there were places like Umihotaru from Kanagawa to Chiba.
Have you exhausted all the scenic spots in Kyushu? Yeah, that’s right. So, it’s all about food, right? I’ve eaten quite a lot too. Ate a lot. Ate a lot, but still… I want to do steaming. I want to, I want to steam a lot of potatoes.
I was looking for a steamer as if possessed. (laughs) It was crazy looking for a steamer. What was it? You wanted to eat potatoes, right? It was a kei car, a MOCO, so it was challenging to steam potatoes. It was like, “Ah, this is the way!” (laughs)
And a sulfur steamer is incredibly delicious. Sulfur is the best, right? Made it like crazy, said, “You can eat it tomorrow,” and ate almost all of it. (laughs) Yeah… (laughs) Ate it in the parking lot there. It’s all about hot springs after all! Can I have a refill? Sure.
Do you want more ice? Yes, please. Sorry, Master. Nice. How about that item? Great! It’s convenient because hands can fit. Ah, yeah. I bought it because I was particular about it. As expected, right? It can keep things warm or cold. It’s really nice, isn’t it?
The ice reduces to less than half in about 5 days. Amazing, right? Once you buy it, you can easily go for one night and two days. It seems it barely melts in one night and two days. Amazing. Japanese technology is incredible. I’m not sure if it’s Japanese, though. Certainly. (laughs) But this… (laughs)
It looks a bit foreign, though. But, this is the best, right? Delicious. I boiled some potatoes. Chibi-chan’s favorite, potatoes! Is it delicious? Chibi: “Yeah, it’s delicious.” Chibi: “Eating potatoes in the car is different, right?” It’s a bit different. Chibi: “These are Kitakumars from Hokkaido.” It’s totally different. (laughs) Yes, Botchan. Your favorite, potatoes.
Good for you. Botchan also likes potatoes. Bota: “These are Kitakumars from Hokkaido!” My dogs only know Kitakumars from Hokkaido. No, they’re not. Bota: “Oh, I see!” Bota: “Kitakumars from Hokkaido!” It’s getting confusing. Good for you. Good for you, Botchan. It’s delicious. Finally. Because we had a hard time at the foothills,
I thought it would be good to have one. Thank you. Convenient. Warm. Feels good. You can even put the upper pot on it. The ceiling is a bit… Not that big of a pot. Warm. I want a mandarin. Powered up. Really warm. The reviews were pretty good. According to the reviews.
That’s what they were saying. He’s snoring. Botchan is enjoying it too. Good for you, Botchan. It’s convenient to be able to brush your teeth in the car when there’s water. You can wash your face too. We decided to use the water supply, right? It’s quite a dilemma, but
When we first went to the foothills, We hesitated, right? I understand. It felt a bit uncomfortable, but It can’t be helped if we don’t use it. If you clean it with bleach, You can also replace the water tank, and it’s not that expensive. So, yeah.
Did you learn that skill to get into such places? (laughs) Chibi-Bo, laughed. He showed up. Botchan, come here. Botchan, come here. Shall I get this? I wonder if I should take a bath first thing tomorrow. Let’s do it. Is it from 10 o’clock? From 10 o’clock.
We came near for a car camp, and if we don’t take a bath, it’ll be like, “What’s going on~”, you know? Well, you won’t be able to take a bath anymore from now on. Good night. Turning off the lights, okay? Thank you. Good night. The next morning. Ryochan. Ryochan! Ryochan! Are you awake?
Is it time to wake up already? The weather is really nice. Really? I slept well. I slept well. The moment I got into the futon, I have no memory. Yuta-san fell asleep right away. Really? Ryochan also fell asleep snoring. You were the first to fall asleep.
I was dominated by the dog on the window side. (laughs) I’ve become a dog uncle again. (laughs) Good for you. Good morning, Chibi-chan. Chibi: “I fell asleep right away too.” Good for you. Can we still aim for the public bath? We can definitely make it. Are you getting up? Let’s explore the surroundings.
Open-air baths are definitely refreshing. Seems refreshing, doesn’t it? Chibi-chan is saying, “Take me for a walk.” Chibi-chan, let’s go for a walk. Bota disappeared. Could it be…! What happened? Can you stretch your back? I can do my favorite stretch. Amazing, a new discovery. Feels good. A good wake-up.
Is it because you can stretch? Bocchan is also stretching. Bota: “What a great wake-up.” Isn’t the less painful way over there? What a good wake-up. Bota: “This stretch is the best.” Getting killed by Bota. It’s cute. A steamed bun. Chibi: “I’m the king.” Chibi: “Listen to me, you guys!”
The water is clear, the mountains are beautiful, it’s nice. My energy is rising. Shizuoka always boosts your spirits. Nice weather, isn’t it? Good for you. There’s frost. It’s quite chilly in the shade. Walking for 15 minutes. Good exercise, huh? Wearing a jacket? Will it get warmer as we walk? Not for now.
Are you okay? It was quite tough… It’s been a while. Chibi and Bota are also getting good exercise. The atmosphere here is nostalgic. I remember getting excited, running, and dropping my phone. Certainly. Beautiful. Beautiful. They’re watching peacefully. Good for you. Are you satisfied? Heading to the sought-after Sunamata Gorge Onsen.
Was that creature yesterday a Japanese serow? Definitely. It’s a special natural monument. It would have been nice if we could have taken a better video. We probably won’t see it again. It’s rare, really rare. I’ve never seen anything like it during my trip around Japan. It had this kind of face.
Yeah, it did, it did. Regrettable. Quite regrettable. Didn’t do it! Worst. It turned out to be only on weekends. I don’t know about that. There are other day-use hot springs, so it’s okay. Really. There wasn’t a sauna before, right? No, there wasn’t. Did they renovate it? Or is it newly built?
Shall we go to the one down below? Yeah, let’s do that. We climbed quite a bit to get here. Regrettable. But thanks to coming here, we learned about the Japanese serow. Certainly. There was also a clean toilet. Should we go back? Or try another hot spring?
Sunamata Gorge Onsen after two years, with its beautiful skin-beautifying hot water, was wonderful. The Suikoen we visited this time had a day-use bath for 700 yen without a towel, or 600 yen without. However, please note that there were no hair dryers for day-use visitors.
By the way, I didn’t use the main bath, only around the fifth bath… (laughs) We enjoyed it, so now we head to the next destination. Thank you very much for watching until the end.
