Hamaguchi Ryusuke’s ‘Drive My Car’ tells the story of a renowned stage actor and director who learns to cope with a significant personal loss. An offer to direct a production of Uncle Vanya in Hiroshima becomes a turning point in his life.
The movie won several awards at AFA16, including Best Film, Best Editing, and Best Original Music. It was also nominated for Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best Sound. In addition, actors Nishijima Hidetoshi and Okada Masaki were nominated for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor respectively.
