4K 60FPS Court level view of Kei Nishikori (Japan) practicing at the 2021 Australian Open!

Here he is practicing with Yuichi Sugita and we see Nishikori doing some on-court warmup exercises, groundstrokes, serves, returns and his coach feeds him some balls as he hits winners!

Kei Nishikori hits the ball incredibly well and here you can see his technique in more detail.
We can see how light on his feet he is especially when just warming up his groundstrokes.

Nishikori has fairly compact groundstrokes which makes him easily identifiable from the rest. You can see how his right elbow is close to his body on the forehand preparation and his left elbow is close to his body on his backhand preparation.

He prepares on his forehand with high left arm which helps to ensure he swings low to high as the left hand catches the racket above the opposite shoulder after the follow through.

2:05 – Groundstrokes full court

  1. Was nishi’s back hurt during the session. His movement looks like he’s favoring a low back injury. That backhand slice especially

  2. Big time loser, so much money had lost because of confident given to you. How could you lose a match to Sock! You will never win another title. There's no need to gamble on that!

  3. Terrific player in the wrong era. He could never really get over the Big 3 + Murray bump (or rather, mountain) – lifetime 9-47 record against the quartet. He reached the quarterfinals or better in 12 major events but lost 11 of those matches to a GS winner (only exception being Tsonga). Exceptional technique and movement but just not enough ooompf on his serve to bag easy points … and a bit lacking in durability and physique to grind out deep in the second week of majors. He was Djokovic v0.75 and that's a hell of a compliment.

  4. Kei is super talented, but I think sponsors overpaid him for someone who only reached 1 slam final.
